Hi guys,

Was wondering if anyone could give me some advice/recommendations on recording software and devices. Not really into instrument mics coz my amp is only 25 watt and my budget is about $300 - $400.

I'm considering a cuBase found at Yamaha. About $200++ Can't recall the model. Thanks in advance :)

do a search on audio interface in the forum here or google. Most audio interface will come with basic software that can give you a headstart into recording guitar and doing other things

if your budget is round 300 to 400, the best way is just to get an audio interface and use the software that comes with it for learning.

If just buying software alone, it will cost much much much more and you still wont be able to record, without an audio interface.

cubase is the name of a software for music recording and stuff, but you will still need an audio interface to connect your guitar/microphone.

Without audio interface, you cant do anything. For a start, google for audio interface and read up whatever info you can find.

Aite, thanks bro. Will do some reading up on audio interface. Regarding cuBase, the one that I saw at Yamaha does come with an audio interface. If I get it right, it's a device that connects your guitar to a recorder(pc/tape) right?

audio interface is like an external soundcard which goes between the instrument and computer. Do all the analog to digital converting(geetar signal to digital signal), goes thru software, record, arranged etc, back to the interface, digital signal back to analog signal and finally to speaker/headphone for our hearing.

not sure whats the one that you saw at yamaha, but i guess it could be an audio interface that comes with cubase le(lite edition).

The full version of cubase is a full fledge daw(digital audio workstation) and cost in the range of couple thousands wheras the lite edition are only for bundling with audio interface sale and not sold separately

for cubase, just hop over to www.steinberg.net for more info.
