Hey guys, I need some help here. Recently decided to get a drive pedal so I can have the option of switching from clean to dirty on my bedroom amp(Nux Mighty 15) as well as during gigs/jamming. However, I'm quite undecided on which type of drive pedal would suit my purpose more.
I play mostly rock to metal - Will a distortion pedal have enough range to cover these genres? I could probably use a distortion pedal as a boost with my Nux's gain channel if I wanted to reach for more distortion.
The main dilema I'm having here is that I'm afraid getting a super distortion/metalzone pedal will be much too dirty to do pop rock stuff, and on the other hand, my Nux's natural gain is quite weak - will a distortion pedal alone be enough to help it reach metalzone? Lol pardon the pun
Another thing is, I'm thinking of getting a delay pedal, as I like to use a slight digital delay in my solos to help it sound more "epic". I've thought about it and decided that I only need these two effects for now. Would it be more ECONOMICAL to get a multi-effects or just these two babies? In my 3 days experience with my friend's Zoom G2.1U, I didn't like that you had to use the multi-effect's amp models if you wanted to use it's effects. I want something you can turn on/off ala stompboxes as needed - literally effects only.
And though I like the option of having more effects at my hands, I kind of don't want to buy let's say, a Zoom G2Nu, and end up using maybe only 1/2 of the effects when I have to pay for stuff like pitch shifter/harmonist/a. wah that I don't use much.
I like the very simple, idiot proof user interface of the unit, but I cannot justify to myself to get it when I know I'll only use 1/2 of what I'm paying for.
Edit: Left out that I have a budget of about 200 if for those two effects alone(Distortion/Delay)!
Sorry for the long, long post guys!!!I know I'm a very difficult person to please, arghhh!
