Help with Effects?!

Haha, probably closer to $150. I sold my last DE7 for $60, but that's the low side. 2nd hand Cool Cat I have seen for $20.

DE7 is all delay, just different modes. You will never use every possible sound on a pedal anyway, unless you rotate all the knobs 360 degrees while playing. Lol. So I disagree with that mindset of "paying for an effect you don't use". If even one setting sounds great to you, that makes the pedal worth it.

Yes, those solos typically use a bit of delay and/or reverb to get the big lead sound.

Thanks, I've been wanting a firm confirmation of that. I just really that big fat lead tone so much lol.
Anyways, is not that I don't wanna pay for an effect I don't use lah, it's more like, if there's a delay/echo pedal that's $175 and a delay only pedal at $115, and since I know I'm only after the delay, why pay the extra $60 just because the echo comes bundled with the delay, you know what I mean, haha :D

the echo mode on the de7 is like digital delay, just that it makes each repeat less treblish, kinda like a lo-fi filter on every repeat. if you set the echo to low ms, you will get into the reverb range which is also quite nice. i used the echo mode more than dd when i had the de7. there are even those who want to mod their boss dd to have a echo effect, http://www.monteallums.com/pedal_mods.html#bossdd

i thought echo more like analog delay with natural decay or something. i always thought reverbs made bigger sounds than delays btw. haha.

Delays simply mean repeating a note after the original note is played (hence the name delay).
There are several types of delays in which the overall EQ and characteristic of it is different (eg. analog delay that distorts and darkens over repeats, tape delay with wow and flutter, modulated delay with chorus/flange/vibrato in the wet signal).

Echo is merely a variation of delay, where the repeats have a different sound. Hence it doesn't make sense to say:
Anyways, does the Echo function on the DE7 derive from the delay effect? Cos if not, call me stingy, but I don't wanna be paying for an effect I don't use :(

i didnt read the whole thread but....
