help!!original or not??

Just wondering, arn't fender neck plates supposed to have a stamped fender logo on it? I might be VERY wrong about this, it's just the impression I had...

Not necessarily actually. 2 theories though. One, the previous owner swapped the neck plate out. Two, it is a more recently made MIJ/CIJ Fender (the FENDER word stamp neck plate was on most of the old MIJs)

I don't think many websites carry much information but if you see them enough, you'd get the idea haha.

do you know the model of the bass you got ?

Because it looks pretty much authentic to me.
The lower end mij's use the small pots, doesnt have
a logo on the neck plate and has all the decals at
all the right places.

But there's no way to verify the pick-ups though
one way is to remove the pickups to look for any
signs of a replacment.

Pickups look fine to me. I haven't seen raised pole pieces on the CIJ Fenders I've met. Cap is CIJ Fender part as well... have replaced enough to know. Pots are hit or miss, depending on who you listen to. Bridge is fine. Neck plate is fine. My CIJ Fender from Ishibashi doesn't have a stamped neck plate. Post a closeup of the serial number?

Only thing I don't really like is the burst finish, but that could just be personal preference.

well, looks authentic to me too.
the older MIJ/CIJs were built much differently.
yours just look like the newly built ones!
