help on strumming

im trying to play the song Hard to Explain by the strokes. if i go all downstroke my arms tire fast. but if i go up-down, the sound is uneven and sometimes not the same volume every stroke.

so how to correct this? go all downstroke or go up down?

if go up down is better, can u all please suggest some exercises :lol: maybe i just need to strum a lot more

play simple three chords and strum ...strum...strum !! try smooth slow strokes just with your thumb and progress pick or just fingers.
Get a simple tune and try to play along just to get the feel....
Practise ya and in no time you will be rockin !!
