Hey guyz...i need all ur opinions n knowledge on what would be better among the three mention. I am not sure what to get...for now podxt live is the one on top of my list. But still debating to myself between pod n digitech.

Help me guyz!!

thank you

well, i got the pod xt live. never regretted it. superb tool for recording. sounds great. tried the gt6 but din like the sounds. dunno about live usage cos i dun gig. cheers

It depends on what features you are looking for. Some people like distortion on Pod XTL but some prefer BOSS or Digitech. So for sound wise, drive and decide yourself. Of course you can find out detail specifications from their website. Following are my findings.

Pod XT Live – multi effects, lots of amp models, USB interface that is very cool feature as you can store all your patches in the computer and you have software to edit every parameter of your effects and amp settings.
Recording is also possible via USB, so you don’t need additional hardware like midi for PC recording. But there is no recording software included, so you need to prepare to pay for recording software. Line6 riff tracker software for Pod XTL owner is about 99 USD. No built in drum machine by the way.
Price: 670 S$

Digitech GNX4 – Digitech’s top of the line guitar workstation, it has almost everything you need. Built in programmable drum machine. USB interface for recording and patching and software is also included. Many amps models and effects of course. Price is not cheap in Singapore. It also supports CF memory card, so you don’t need PC all the time for recording or playback backing tracks.
Price: 1300-1500 S$

By the way, Digitech GNX2000 will launch in end of this month, all features of GNX4 but less 200 USD. There is no on board recorder but you can have two-way USB connection and recording software. 100 over drum patterns but not programmable.

GT6 – Some people love it, some people hate it. Anyway why do you want GT6 when GT8 is in same price?

BOSS GT8 – It has awesome unlimited sounds with dual COSM engine. You can switch amp channels or switch between two amps from your GT 8 or layer the effects. Tested and love it but no GT software included like GT PRO or GS 10. No USB interface, you can have S/DIF digital output or midi for recording. Some people use normal 1/8 cable directly from GT8 to your sound card for recording. You need a recording software and good sound card.
Price: 700 S$

hey thank u very much for such a detail info for me...
Btw e Gnx2000 is ard S$1000plus is it? wow..in that case, i go with podxt live even if its juz a little cheaper than boss. I have guitarport at home so roughly i know e basics of podxt live...oh i tried it too...its good lah..but i didnt had a chance to tried it at its maximum potential...but i think it will give me a good satisfaction for my sound n tone setup etc..

Again thank u very much u guyz....

Anymore from u guyz out there...plz juz tell me ur comments...appreciate it very much.

How good are these amp modelling units for doing gigs? As you know in Singapore gigs there's very little time for us to set-up our gear and stuff without making the people wait....then there's the problem of it being unsuitable for live playing..........and anyone ever tried the behringer v-amp2(not sure if its a 2 or what)thanks

oh ya...another model tu ask abt...how abt the korg AX1500G? seems like everyones toking abt it..yet see a lot of people selling it in classified ads..

And..yeah how abt e ease of using it live? it seems to me its juz plug n play rite? we must set it up n program it before hand rite? not quite good in doing multi effects things...

thanks

hiya;
well, i got the live xt as stated above. problem is i dun gig so i really dunno. and i never plugged it into an amp before so also dunno how it will fare there.
but for recording, i give it thumbs up. and effects and sound is good enough for me. i dun use the 101 fx and some things like synth fx and all just plain ol' redundant to me. i end up using only a few here and there. but the other stuff i play around with and there are some interesting sounds la. ultra useful to me cos of the usb recording feature, saves me some inputs on my mixer, and the guitarport software rocks for me cos it saves me trouble of bending down every few seconds to tweak knobs. plus i just tweak everything on the com and save it into my pod xt live. i attach a small little sample of my fav rhythm and lead sounds, hope it gives u an idea of the sound.

personally, i didn't quite like the gt8, i found the xt live a bit "warmer". anyways, one man's meat is another man's poison, so, sound being subjective, its entirely up to you i guess.

hope this helps. cheers

hey fibredrive..thanks very much... N hey how u did tat recording with e drums etc..it sounds good man..e recording n stuffs sounds good..n oh coz ur guitar licks..haha u must be damn pro ar..

hey u mean u edit something on e comp using e program u can save in e podxt live to be played later on with an amp? wow tats cool..so dun need to like so called sit on spot for hours to program a patch...can juz use the comp..haha tats good..haha can chat n surf net at the same time.

hey..haha teach me the way u do for e recording man...thank u very much!!
oh n how much u bought if for?

thankz bro

thks for the compliments. i just recorded the rhythm twice then panned it left and right, and the drums were loops i bought from overseas, bass just twang on my elec guitar low E string la, then solo just anyhow whack some lines. keke. pai seh i not damn pro la, i wish, u shld check out the other recordings here man...

i mean, i just tweak on guitarport whatever sound i want, playing around with the settings (assuming u've used guitarport?), then when i am satisfied, i just save it on my com and onto my pod xt live itself to anyone of the available empty banks. it communicates via usb. and i record thru usb as well. yeah, i play guitar and chat and surf and post on soft most of the time. keke.

fibredrive is there any diff when u record via usb or mixer soundcard combo?
i intent to get the pro for digital recording...
but i might consider your methods coz i can use the remaining budget for other stuff...

one thing i like abt pod is the metal packs...
the simulated amps are pretty accurate ...furthermore its up to the user
to get the "tone" out of the equipt..

heya penguin;

i actually tried the 2 methods and then A/B'ed them. one track via USB and left panned. one track via mixer analogue inputs/soundcard and then pan right. the direct usb was much better for me cos the sound basically, in a gist, was much much clearer. no need eq'ing to remedy low end probs. so since then, i've gone direct usb for all my guitar parts. but u need guitarport software opened when u wanna record via usb, otherwise, the input option does not come up in the sequencing software.

cheers

Nice tone u have there fibredrive...

IMHO, the PODxt series works best for digital direct recording. The metal packs samples I've heard from some users r amazing and comes very close to the real thing. Having said that I would still say the BOSS GT series r better made for gigging purposes as it is more configureable and u can customize one patch to any way u want it to be(the PODxt Live have some limitations if I'm not wrong). The GT-6/8 looks sturdier as well..

So in any case its up to one to decide whats the unit going to be used more for, gigging or recording.. Or if u have the patience to sit down and tweak the hell out the GT series.. Plus good tones comes 80% from the player and 20% from equipments IMO..

hey cavett i have to agree with u there regarding e player n his equipment..hehe..anyway..i think e boss series is too expensive for me man..n i think podxt will do juz fine for me...e sound n tone too i like..n i have experience using guitarport so therefore using another line6 product shudnt be too much problem. hehe.

Anyway...how abt the korg AX1500g series? what do u guyz say abt that? coz i seen people toking abt it n at the same time seen lots of posting abt people wanting to sell them off....
what say u abt this product?? haha lets discuss abt it ya..thank u very much..

thks mate! anyways, like i said, can't comment on pod xt live for gigging purposes. cos neber try before. dunno what situations one faces during gigging. and GT8 might be more powerful for configuring while playing live i guess.
but for example, when i configure my sounds, i can select which amp i want. (love the rectifiers la heh) and then play with the distortion and vol/mids/treble/bass/presence settings. then i plonk a tubescreamer in front for instance, still can set the gain and eq etc. and i plonk a mic (limited to 4 diff. types if i not mistaken), and cabinets (quite a few, from 1 x 8 to 4 x 12). and normally a select a delay (analogue/digital/ping pong etc) and u can still configure the rate, tap the tempo if ya want etc etc). so, i am saying all this for u guys out there who wanna compare the configurability of both machines (Boss/Line6). i dunno how deep boss can go but looks like with 15 knobs it can go plenty deep...
and POD XT Live is limited to a few stompboxes at a go i believe, maybe boss can link as many as u want for instance. hope this helps. cheers

I did once played ard with my fren's AX1500G back in camp.. It sounded ok, compareable to the Zoom's GFX8 which I am using now. Like the GFX8, the AX1500G is not as tweakable as the XT and the GT6/8.. Though if u can find one for cheap and budget is ur main concern y not giving it a shot...

heya, i used to own the AX1500G about 2 years ago in fact. initially i quite liked it but in the end couldn't stand it cos the sounds were too clinical, digital even for me. so, sold it. yep. my .2 cents worth. didn't stay with me for long, only few months...
