Help: Going nowhere with practice

Threadstarter - finger strength matters too.

Get a Gripmaster - that can, and DOES, help with your finger strength, which in turn, allows you better control and dexterity.

Or just practice.

There's a few folders you can search for under B, but to be specific:
Blues Acoustic Guitar
Blues Lick
Blues Rhythmes (or spelt as rythmes)
Blues Solo

Then there's another folder called 'Guitar player licks and lessons'.
There should be more, but for now that's all I can find.

Search google images for gripmaster :)

It's basically a small tool used to exercise your finger strength. Just keep pressing it lol

Use .11s or .12s.... Pain as hell when you first start but your fingers get used to it and get stong as a result.. heh heh..

you mean pressing harder on the strings can get you to move faster?i tot the softer you press can make you go faster.makes sense no?

I meant pressing harder to work up the strength.. After that you switch back to lighter guage..

all of a sudden it seems effortless...

heh heh

I also have this problem when it comes to lead guitar. I'm totally getting nowhere at practice and everytime I try, I get pissed off.

But for me it's different. My fingers just won't co-operate.

Omigosh! You're in the UK? England? London? Oxford? Cambrigde? Brighton?

=D

I feel adrenaline even when I talk about it?

Do you want to adopt me? I'm an angel. (grins)

Okay, back to topic. Hell, you're in UK. There's teachers all around.

Practice scales. But not rigidly. Play around with them; the ordering, the fingering, the spread-out of notes and stuff. Make sure it is flexible.

Make sure you learn the blue pentatonics. The most basic scale around. Helps a lot in improvising and applicable in all situations.

Don't just aim towards shredding, it isn't all the great. What about other techniques? Pinch harmonics are way fun, I reassure you. Tapping and all that. Don't rush towards speed, it will come naturally once you get your regular dose of practice. Good luck.

(And adopt me, please?)

waa. relax your fingers, focus on accuracy, and dont hold your pick too tight, it'll trip over the strings when you switch. Start slow, then when you're used to it then up the tempo, lol.
