hammond organ copy

I have researched and I like the Korg CX-3, the newer version, and the Roland VK-8. Now, where in the bloody hell can I find this hammond organ copies? And how much does one cost? tried asking citymusic but zero chances.

If anyone can recommend anything cheaper and good, by all means, talk, there is almost zero interest in hammond organs here.

Last time i went to City Music they had a Kurzweil PC3X. That one has a built in tonewheel organ simulator that sounds pretty good. Might be worth checking out if you haven't.

I think the Kurzweil is about as portable as the ones you mentioned already. Standard pro electronic keyboard form factor and weight. Mind you, the Kurzweil is not purely an organ even if it has dedicated drawbar controls.

Another series to look at for dedicated Hammond organs is the Clavia Nord Electro 3 and the Clavia Nord C2 Combo Organ. They're both very good. The Clavia web site says that Keyboard Theatre in Paya Lebar sells them but i've never been there myself. Might be worth going there to check out.

Edit: Damn it Soft! You beat me to it! :D

ha..ha.. poladark, just by a little. Keyboard Theatre is quite an interesting place. They are in a warehouse sort of place. But when you go into the showroom with all the keyboards, it is very nice.

The key to Hammond is more than the drawbars and sounds. It's also the waterfall keys. So, although the Nord Electro 3 has waterfall keys, it's semi-weighted (not the traditional non-weighted keys). It will not feel exactly the same - but it's important for the Electro 3 since it does electromechanical keyboards not just Hammond. The C2 Combo is made more like the Hammond. Haven't tried it out - but sure looks cool.

yeah i was also considering nord electro but i need the same weight on all keys. need to play abit of ska here and there heh. will definately check out keyboard theatre, thanks for the info guys!

More expensive option. Doepfer modular keys, hook on to Roland drawbars or softsynths with Hammond emulator. Haven't tried Doepfer, but the action may be what you are looking for.

I'm a hammond enthusiast and have my own rig/clones. want to share some of my findings -

with local dealers:
Hammond (by suzuki) XK-1 : $1980 at Elka music , weighs 15kg
Roland VK-8m module : i think it's $1.6k
nord electro3/C2/stage - $3-5k (konicashoes is currently selling his electro3-61, go buy it)

the following are good too but u have to ship in:
http://www.keyborgan.com/
http://www.diversi.us/product_organ_index.html
http://www.bgmi.it/?a=showproduct&b=1

the lightest and cheapest option:
GSi VB3 VSTi - 49 Eur
http://www.genuinesoundware.com/?a=showproduct&b=24
you can run it off a $300 netbook and $100 midi controller. Leslie sim is good, tone is very realistic. Much better and lighter than NI B4 which has annoying resonant frequencies at certain keys.

local Roland dealers, Swee Lee, of course.

doubt they would hold stock here. you'll probably need to order and wait a long time for it to come in with the next shipment of Roland stock. or get it from musiciansfriend. ask around in other forum section how to order from US
