ok i know instruments are universal and all but as you all know us asians are generally smaller in frame and have shorter fingers unlike the westerners just look at vai's fingers 8O since most guitars are sort of made with the american/western consumer in mind..which brand truly makes guitars with the asian consumer in mind? im taking about smaller sized guitars and stuff i heard musicman guitars really suit asian hands...any insights on this?

Errr... already did.
Vai -------> Ibanez Sig (Asian guit?)
Kotzen ------> Fender Japan Sig?

Hehehehe.
Oh and I thought you are using an Ibanez Prestige now?
Thought those necks are pretty thin which should be ok for us asians.

Pardon my bluntness.
But thats like saying we should have Asian sized cdoms around. Just cos we're less 'well endowed' .

lol. generally, i dont think there is that much of a problem. after some time of playing the guitar, the fingers grow. in fact, playing instruments like the piano and violin/viola/double-bass helps alot as well. so with practice, i dun think the scale actually matters that much. its just the stretching capabilities of ur fingers after some time, and getting used to it after sufficient practice. besides, i think if u love ur guitar, u'll love every aspect of it, regardless of the scale length. :twisted:

in any case, if ur fingers are shorter and unable to stretch, there are a pretty large range of short-scale instruments, wether 3/4 scale or 1/2, but with the shorter scale comes compromised parts and stuff. e.g. a squier mini only has 2 knobs, one master vol. one master tone. a full scale strat has 3 knobs, vol, tone, tone. therefore i think making do with a full scale would make more sense. (unless u intend to drill more holes into the mini and stick more knobs in XD)

yup, they have a slightly shorter scale, and there are of course mini guitars, for us minier asians, eg. fender short scale strat

but i'm sure most of us dont have much problem. in fact, smaller hands and fingers means better shredding at the upper frets, so u wont be that inaccurate!
