Guitarist Magazine (and others...)

You know, "Guitarist" magazine from the UK is without a doubt the finest magazine on this tiny ble speck of a planet we call Earth.

I've tried them all and finally come full circle to appreciating a publication from my adopted homeland which I shall henceforth subscribe to.

Guitar World is giving Guitarist a good run for its money. Good features but too many complete song transcriptions, 4 out of 5 don't appeal to the particular reader.

Guitar Player went all crap after it tried to undergo some radical design lobotomy.

Guitar For The Practicing Musician went all crap after the 'death' of Shred.

Total Guitar isn't bad actually, but the reviews aren't in depth enough. The technical 'how to play' articles are okay.

uh, who did I forget...

Guitar

Anyway - Guitarist is the best, despite the price. Zakk Wylde in current issue with great video expose. He's a God, albeit a very hairy one.

Hey man! You forgot Guitar Techniques! 8)

Now, that mag beats every other mag when it comes to lessons and learning new stuff.

Guitarist is the best lah, the CD alone is so feature packed.

Monthly reviews with sound clips and doesnt even restrict itself to just guitars, and even review one or 2 DAWs every month.

yeah but if you want articles and columns solely on building chops or expanding your knowledge on other genres, nothing can touch GT..

I agree about Guitarist. They've got the best quality of reviews around. In depth, spot on and they list competing units with the similar specs.

Guitarist magazine started coming with a DVD from this month.

I bought the first issue, the one with Santana on the front page. HMV did not include the DVD and their manager advised that it was all returned to the agent.

What was explained to me was that they need the approval of the Spore censureship board for the DVD to be released in Spore.

Vern, did u have a different experience, pray tell.

I bought mine at Changi airport. It had the DVD.

I can lend you the DVD, or, buy you one if they are still there.
