I have been playing guitar for quite sometime now, and having sweaty palms is a PAIN IN THE ARSE! hmm so was wondering if anyone out there shares the same problem as me??

#1)sweaty palms make ur fingers soggy and skin on ur finger tips tends to wear out when doing more technical stuff .
#2)Strings rust like god knws wad!! need to change them almost weekly
#3)Is disgusting
#4)Is gross
#5)Pick slips from fingers
#6)Dont dare to try other people guitar

well theres more plz share ur view on this... thx!!

i wouldn't say that my sweaty palms are extreme.

But hell yea. it's a pain in the arse.

pick always slips my fingers, strings rust so quickly i don't bother to change that often anymore.

also, cant move my hand up and down the fretboard as easily. feels sticky. sliding isn't as smooth.

But usually i'll just wash my hands and it'll get a little better.

Mine are quite extreme - literally drips after a while.

But people don't really care if I play their guitar since I make it a habit to do a wipe every now and then while playing.

I don't get the pick slipping problem anymore. Got over that completely after my first two years of playing.

Just persevere with your hobby despite your own weaknesses/downfalls. I know someone who plays bass with a hook arm. (He broke his arm ages ago and it didn't mend well) It was really difficult for him at first (He originally plays the piano and trumpet) but now he's awesome at it.

Cheers.

I have sweaty palms.. Only when playing a long song, and I don't have time to wipe my hands, then the pick has a high chance of slipping from my fingers!

And the last point is true.. Very very very true! I don't wanna try other peep's guitars due to my fingers.. Or when I meet a buyer/seller or shop assistant and they wanna shake my hand.. Kinda embarrassing!

And for performances, I wear a glove.. I'm training to wear lah.. Haha.. It restricts my speed a little, but at least it prevents my finger from 'slipping' during bending..

But well.. Its not all our fault right? We have to be proud of what we were born with!

dont worry.its not like you can collect a cup full of sweat.maybe play directly infront of a fan?

if pick slipping away is the problem. Try using those ''rough, rubbery' kinda textured picks. example the dunlop tortex picks. I used those picks when i was having problems holding on to my picks and they worked pretty well.

and as for rusting strings. You wouldnt really have a problem if you make it a habit to wipe down your strings everytime after use. Or an alternative is.. just keep playing as long as you can each day. that way the strings wouldnt have time to rust. haha.

lol

Hey thx people ,at least now i knw there are people out there with the same problem as me! Any1 tried any cure or medication?? does it work??

haha. my cousin has this problem. everytime after he plays, he has to use tissue paper...and it makes the guitar so wet and yucky. wonder if it can be cured??

usually washing your hand will make it better

it DOES have certain advantages though. when i play live. my sweaty palms sorta oils the strings and makes it easy to move around the fretboard

i use the Dunlop polymer coating on my strings after i play and i wipe my guitar with a cloth. if you maintain your instrument well, your sweaty palms shouldn't be a big problem

i HATE the shaking hand part man. even worse when holding a girls hand.

i HEARD acupunture might solve the problem

if you guys are rich. go for surgery. its possible to get rid of sweaty palms

I hate it when you bend and the string slips from your hand.. I really really really hate that sound it makes!!! Its bad that it can hinder your playing..

I just keep wiping my hands and and the guitar ,so that it would stay dry and moist free. Guess that'll prevent fast rusting.

Same here. My strings go from shiny to tarnished in 2 hours. I don't have so much problem with picks, except that they keep on getting pushed to the side as long as i'm strumming.

Can check out the wiki website also, look for "Hyperhidrosis." I haven't tried any of their remedies, but i definitely don't think i'd like to try the ETSurgery.

You can't sweat from the nipple line up, and you sweat more elsewhere to compensate for it!

Scary!
