Guitar shops : Intimidated?

haha SL, went there last week. were quite late at 7pm. after work, my friend wanted to test a guitar and so no one was there except the sweep typing guy who always sits at the desk typing dont know what.

me: hey bro, my friend wants to test that guitar
him: wait
me: sorry?
him: wait a momeennntttt....~~ *with the heylookimfkingbusyok look* i call my friend
*after 5 sec*
him: hey -name-! this guy here wants to test guitar! whispers "wah suddenly i become helpdesk ah.."

IMO...among the big stores, City Music has the better customer service. Swee Lee and Davis really need improve in this area. Price-wise, the stuff at City Music and Davis are quite reasonable. Swee Lee though is just overcharging. Not sure about Ranking/Music Theme, cos I never buy from them before.

Music theme is okay, at least they let me breathe and not follow me around..
They give me my own sweet time to choose what i want to buy.
They let me test guitars without hesitation nor give the "u look too poor to buy this" face

CityMusic is great, I'd say their customer service is really good, except for a particular staff that has no patience at all...

While most argue that Davis has bad customer service..
I think some of their staffs are actually quite good.
Except for a particularly few infamous ones..

yeap agreed that some of their(davis) staff are definitely good. particularly this malay dude n one damn short hair chinese guy. the "old" ones...hmm...haha

Never had any problems when I go Davis. Love shopping there. Very patient with me. Even the days when I go there just to pass my time and chat with them, never gave me any black face...

~meh~

actually its quite hard for them as well. if they dont come to talk to the customer, he/she might complain that customer service sucks. if they do approach and stick to the customer, end up kena complain that too intimidating.

Razorback: the solution to the problem is just to become more thick skin, if you dont want to buy just look through and walk out. like my friend, go to shoe shop try the shoes like hell, then walk off. its a bit of an ass, but it can be put into good use sometimes.

Hi I am new,to this forum of course.

I agree with this, but do remember the shop owners are humans, they realise a pattern after your 3rd visit....

and of course you'll get lousier service each time you enter and walk away like a king....

I am 13.... when i go guitar places alone, it is intimidating... like if you saw this guitar and it looks nice, you want to try but you're too shy you and afraid you will mess up..

HAHAHA..

Maybe he playing WoW then scared Party scold him, then like so indifferent say wah suddenlt i become helpdesk ah...

This is sarcasm, they know their closing then hinting you they dont want you to try..

I agree with you. City Music has the best service so far. From my experience, Ranking and Music Theme has good service too.

I find the service at CM the best so far. Especially this malay guy with a goatee (he's malay I think... :P ). Very friendly and helpful.
I think I just sabo-ed him 'cos people will start going to him for help and he cannot lepak already. :P

my favourite music store is Ranking.Never made me feel intimidated, nor stranded.I went to SL the other day and spent 20 mins looking lost and waited for someone, anyone to just look at me so i can ask for assistance.Maybe i just walked in on a wrong time cuz they all seem pretty busy at their desks typing and making phonecaslls.i went to Ranking instead and got whatever i wanted, plus some very satisfying service.+1 to them!

Be it a shop or a restaurant, you are still a customer to them. Just have this mindset that you are their potential customer who will give them business. Hope this will make you more confident Mr Razorback :)
