Heya ppl

My family will be going to Tokyo next mth n I`m thinking of asking them to get a guitar from there..r the guitars sold there cheap compared to here? Need ur opinions..thanks..n do name the shops...: )

no way... my fren once went to tokyo... and check out those electric guitars... the price are way expensive!! Come on dude, no doubt... japan.. richest country in the world... workers there are well paid too... tats y... hmmmm... but of course, QUALITY are superb!! haha!!

Check out those japanese made guitars pricing at any website with japanese price... and then change the currency to spore dollars and you'll know how expensive it is.

Not worth it unless you're looking to splurge on those Japan domestic market only MIJ guitars like the Ibanez J Customs.

hmm, then why are so many singaporeans importing guitars from japan instead of buying them from local dealers?

it really depends on what guitar you wanna get... if u get a MADE IN JAPAN guitar, it'll be a whole lot cheaper if u buy it from o'er there and bring it back with you... e.g. fender japan, ibanez (even tho it's not really MIJ), etc

some US stuff might be cheaper too, there are more consumers in japan, and mass shipping is cheaper, so u get cheaper guitars, but use your math to calculate the difference, this might not be true for all guitars.

Something thats way cheaper

fernandes, burny guitars. At least 200-300 cheaper than what yamaha sells.
Quite worth it to get those from here imo.

Go down to yamaha and check out the models they have and see which u like. Yamaha music store has a very limited range though.

precisely...

u can get a standard strat for pretty low (500 ah? really ah? which model?) and alot of other stuff... try searching around ishibashi for the rough pricing

I would absolutely go there and grab 1 back man.. way cheaper ( Supposingly? ) But warranty is another problem..

you could try ishibashi, went there last year, they got 1 in shibuya and it juz puts sweelee to shame, didnt buy anything, but really wanted to buy a valbee(so i couldve been the first in singapore to own 1)

half the time even with warranty you'd have to splash out some money to go to other shops. so with the money saved with buyin the mij strat. we can do many things else. XD

but then again. goin to japan aint cheap.

Quite true, since you don't even wish to see your guitar spoilt in someway, and you don't expect MIJ guitars sucks till that point.

Anybody know any shop around shinjuku?

i went there once.. there was this shop along the sheltered area.. near mac i think... the shop outside looks like a piano shop.. but hell when i go to the basement it is a guitar palace!! and those ppl there are freaking good! or maybe i'm lucky!

Hm.. asked around in a Japanese BBS... I asked about guitar shops around Shinjuku..

*this shop is used instruments only, and many rare items shop.

The first shop seems utterly amazing 8O

depends on which shop you go to, but i recommend not buying, a frind of mine bought a fender back and within months everything had gone rusty. Never buy amps there too... they use different power output, very troublesome if u bring it back to singapore. Pricewise its more or less the same
