guitar set up

I have to agree with mikemann.
By the way, mikemann, anywhere you can recommend for a decent setup at a fair price? string action/height, tension, intonation etc... Or is it possible to have a good setup just by doing it yourself according to guidebooks?

I think its a very subjective thing.

Different ppl like their guitars setted up differently.
I think sending the guitar to get a "PRO Set up" is like
paying for his opinion on how he likes his guitar to feel like.

and although you can specify how high you want the action to be, how deep you want the nut to go, how much relieve you want for the neck and all the funny lil details... Might as well do it yourself, you can find the exact setting that sizzle your nizzle, rather that another person's opinion on where you might like it to be.

Fretboard polishing & cleaning - go to Dans at Peninsula - best i've seen so far (at least for frets / fretboards).... 8)

8000 grit sandpaper (Dunlop polishing cloth, avail @ yamaha) and a Razor blade, and nice nice lemon oil...

You're almost there! :D

000 fine steel wool, old english oil mixed with coconut oil... (Rosewood or ebony boards only NEVER maple) better... but it's tedious work..then finish off with a polising nail file (buy the set at Guardian or watson)...

works for me... 8)
