Guitar Brands, Do they really matter??

A scalloped fretboard does not help a guitarist shred.

If anything it makes playing more difficult. YJM said this in the REH video and it's really true. You have to be more concious of the amount of pressure used during chord work. And if you're a tapper, forget scallops. It won't work out.

If you already play with a light touch, you will find yourself playing better upon switching to scallops.

Opss... sorry for the mis-information. I thought I read somewhere that it helps shredding. Sorry.

like my sargent say: you thought, i think, who confirm?? haha...

I thought the guitarist from the band Rainbow teaches Y.J.M personally.. I forgets his name though.. :smt026

...actually, I think this is a bit of a myth. Sure, it's true for about 10 seconds, but it doesn't take long to adjust. I played a scalloped neck Squier Strat (DIY job I was very proud of :)) for a number of years.

Why won't it? It was okay for me.

The hardest part about getting used to a scallop is not feeling the wood under your fingers and only feeling a sharp sliver of metal. This can be a bit more testing for the callouses.

Yea, it does hurt when you play scallops since the string digs into your fingers. I have 2 guitars with fully scalloped necks so yea, i kinda feel its more truth than myth. Then again, for a person to go sharp when soloing is pretty difficult, unless you really are a heavy fretter. But for chord work, it'll go sharp if you're not careful, not so much for the barred chords, but for the other variations. As for tapping, the big stretch taps will tend to force one to go sharp, so i prefer the normal fingerboards for all other fanciful techniques.

Newbie if you really want to find out the manufacturing country of your Burny guitar, I can help you. Send your guitar pics to my e-mail loneeurope@yahoo.com. That is if you want to find out lah. :)

The low end Burny RLG-45 are mostly made in China or may be Korea - depending on year of production. However, there may be some old ones that are made in Japan.

Turtlemuscle, if you are interested in Korean made Burny, I have a RLG-55S, factory build in sustainer. Beautiful honey flame. 2nd hand but very new - cosmetically flawless. If I didn't say, you would think it's new. :) Mail me @ loneeurope@yahoo.com for test drive. Going at $850. I have vintage MIJs also.
