hmm...so from what you said, there's no difference, i suppose you have tried and played a lespaul before? which explains ur stand on the guitars?
do you mind enlighting me and the others who is still unaware too?

well, if i'm not wrong, the supremes have nicer looking bodies than any les pauls, their fret inlays are different, tonewise, about the same as any gibsons... about 5kg of weight, customs are slightly heavier, no flames usually, except for the custom plus? tonewise are the same, standards, dont feel a diff from the supremes, but i think new standards have smaller humbuckers... classic, no differences about that too... all of them sound 'distorted' in clean, heavy, guitar watsta drop off your lap when you're playing it... thats my point of view... and if i'm wrong, correct me!!!

yeah, they're usually in complete white or black with white outlines...
whats scalloped? notice that almost all of the gibsons are equipped with rosewood made fret boards...

scallop is to make your individual sections between your frets on the fretboard concave like YM's strat. apparantly it helps a guitarist to shred.

Just my opinion...

I think if we stick to the thread, its actually asking about whether brands make a difference. It doesnt really say that brands make one play better, but does a high end brand excel much more in quality.

Well, i for one believe that brands do matter... Companies work so hard on their QC, so that they can establish themselves as a household brand... Comeon, guitarist r not stupid pple, and no amt of advertisement can make one think that a brand is gd without trying it

If buying a strat makes me a blues maestro, then walking in Macdonalds make me a big mac??? lol, ultimately its the player that matters, but seriously between a samick strat n a fender, which is better?

So the brand speaks very much on the guitar's quality in a big way... think how u will react if someone tells u they r gg to buy a $2000 squier... it just proves that u feel the brand does not justify the price, cuz the quality isnt there.

So i do believe in brands... HOWEVER, there r some takeovers that has happen in the market purely for business, and it has affected the quality quite a bit. e.g. Pre CBS fenders are still way better than post CBS...

Trace elliot b4 Gibson took over... When these things happen, the philosophy of the brand, the way they believe guitars should be make, can seriously be affected...

but hey, i rather play like Vai n use a kapok, than play like myself n use Vai's rig.

i love my squier strat....
wun even trade it for a fender strat....coz it feels like....me.
got my sweat....saliva....skin....hair....on it......

yum....my own instrument....

Wau.. it (the guitar) has become u huh?? Haha..

my thoughts are how well you understand your instrument=to how well you play, just my thoughts... hofer, why such thoughts...

A scalloped fretboard does not help a guitarist shred. Not one bit... It changes the feel of the guitar in that your fingers only touch strings unlike a normal fretboard where when you fret, your fingers touch the fretboard. This translates to a lighter touch because all you need is just a touch and the string contacts the frets... but press too hard, the strings will go out of tune. Thats all. And its makes bending interesting. ;)

There's countless guitarist's who can shred faster than YJM but don't use a scalloped neck. Its just a matter of preference. :)
