Good Distortion Pedal right now?

Overdrives and Distortions ive tried and owned:
Fulltone OCD ver1-4
Analogman KOT 4
Goosonique Seventheaven
Trex Mudhoney
Trex Moller
Suhr Riot
Marshall Drivemaster
Trex Alberta
AMT Rammstein
Skreddy Screwdriver
Skreddy Mayo
EHX English Muffin
Analogman Sunface High Gain
Keeley DS-1
Randolf MT-2
EHX Metal Muff
Toneczar Openhaus
CatalinBread DLS
Catalinbread Silver Kiss
Analogman Silver Mod TS
Fulltone Distortion Pro
HBE Big D
Lovepedal Eternity
Lovepedal Kanji
Landgraff LDO & MOD
BJF Honey Bee
BJF Dyna Red
Proco Rat 2 and Vintage
Barber LTD Silver

and alot more

and the one i find most amp like and MORE than enough gain (i play Progressive, nu metal-Alternative/indy) is
the Goosonique Seventheaven. i have the prototype version, which i like very much and i boost it with a Fulltone OCD ver 3. it works like a charm and completely just my own opinion. its not an easy pedal to tweak i must say and if you like plug and play id say Suhr Riot depending on how much gain u actually need. i also think the Trex Mudhoney coupled with the Moller is also a heck of a combi. the Openhaus is really nice but the voicing may not be for everyone. if youre looking to play at low volumes, or amps with a bright cap in the front, i would not 100%recommend the seventheaven either, however if youre looking to jam/gig/record then hell yeah. it works like a tube amp. the higher the volume you play it? the better bigger and badder it sounds. itll maim and destroy most distortion units. ive found it cuts through great both recording and live. be it a small Tiny/Dual Terror amp set to clean or a Marshall Superlead 100 with 4X12 cabinet, it will work great. tweaking capabilities are ace and hey, the maker is here so customer service no problem. i use it for all the styles i play with mostly a Gibson SG, Angry Angus Jazzmaster and a Tyler Dann Huff... my opinion.

wahh really meh AMT rammstein that good, ah, I play the AMT Du hast also i not say impress leh lol

I didn't say it sounded better than the Openhaus, I just said it had more gain .... I'd take the Openhaus over the duhast/Rammstein any day

I have to ask. If the 7th has "MORE than enough gain"... then why boost it? hmmm?

And Likui, I think your SS20 has more gain than the OH. AMT's range tend to go to insane/extreme ranges... that Du Hast pedal is SICK, dripping with gain. Same for AMT's legend series, especially their high gain amp emulator models.

I think amt Extreme III has more gain then Du hast lol

Shredcow:
i have the seventh at 12 o clock gain for crunch and kick in the OCD for high gain. its both for convenience, and with the flavour of two drives running at the same time, its nice to shape a personal sound/tone. ive always been a fan of the OCD and the Seventh and ive found a sweet spot running them simultaneously and the convenience of having 'multiple channels' with slight drive of the OCD, Crunch of the Seventh and high gain with both.
hope that answers ya question

You run the OCD at "slight drive"? And it's cutting on it's own, alone?

Okay, I've never thought of that one. Never heard the OCD @ low gain. Hmmmm. There's another low gain option to check out.

Found a vero board version of the openhaus. Not sure how it will sound like, no demos to hear. But it would be an interesting project to do.

haha, the mentioning of the vero design just brought me to fxxxstompboxes.xxx and true enough, everything originated from there with plenty of discussion.

Nothing much can escape them i supposed as long as they can get their hands on it. Anyway, i took a look at the vero layout, some transistors, op amps, 1 of the dual linear pot cant be gotten locally, easily. The components count quite a lot for a distortion i must say.

Yeah, haha you are right. Interesting site though, quite a few stuff I'd like to do from there. That Openhaus is top of the list. Those hard to get parts, maybe can do like what they are doing, use other parts that are similar.

that site been receiving lotsa shit from booteek pedals builders, even though some did ended up joining them in the discussion and earning their respect. The ethnic thread in it quite a good read.

Oh well, have fun doing the thing, would be priceless to compare it side by side and getting similar sound.

I can understand why. Another diy site that I frequented is different, more legit way of doing things. These guys are abit extreme, taking pictures of layouts all.

the legit one is still full of good info. Ed rembold was from there a long time ago.

Hehe, fsb kinda split faction from the legit one. The parties who wouldn't agree with doing things their way, started fsb and never look back.

Ed doesn't goop his boards I think. I rem the openhaus circuit board would be removed quite easily to look at the components.

goop is evil! Say no to goop!

In the echoczar, there were some spring catch thingy which hold the circuit in place, not sure if openhaus has it. I tried to open up the thing to take pic of the board long ago, but gave up coz it aint straightforward as more pedals out there.
