Gloomy Sunday Dangerous

There've been talks on Gloomy Sunday lately. So let's continue. My friends and I had done some research on it lately. My friends had listened to it, according to them, this is indeed quite a sad song.

According to resources found, sometimes it doesn't take effects immediately. It could react spontaneously at anytime & anyplace. In a way, we might not even notice.

I personally believe that this song works best when you're in a really bad situation filled with despair. As most of us should know, inside most of us, there're always certain songs that would come into your mind according to our mood and situation at that particular point of time.

So to play safe, don't even think of trying out that song.

psychologically, with this kinda thread and the rest of the story surrouding it, its pretty easy to go into the region of auto suggestion..

Heh, human thoughts and belief are powerful weapon, but when we set it up ourself and walk right thru it, then thats something else..

we can not be clever, but we must choose to think plus exercise logic and reasoning!

heh somehow im suprised the softie fuzzmusick hasnt posted in any of these threads yet. So far i have been able to predict alot of which he did post in. hahaha

that cud mean 2 things

1) your prediction is wrong this time

2) mourning in a quiet and peacful place for the state of mind for modern people who are being affected by a song from such far out era. Depression arise, not for the song, but the effect of seeing people who are affected by a series of nootes/pitches/ words and thus feeling down for those people. I mean, if looking deeper, how different is this gloomy sunday song different from an S club 7 song

ohmmmmmmmmho

maybe this can be turned into a thread on discussion of how weak or strong the human mind is. Psychology to be exact.

If you all have seen alot of movies. People who commit suicide is because they've been pushed to a point that even though there might be another solution, their brain yet just keeps thinking about ending their life. How does one's mind become so weak to be pushed to a point that the mind becomes a killing machine.

Yet we see so many people with such strong will/mind that they can survive anything and brave through everything that comes their way. The way the mind works is amazing isn't it.

And then we can think about how does a piece of music make the brain send signals to your body to tell you to commit suicide?

Sorry to intrude your thread bro!

so it's official GS is dangerously suicidal, yes? then this one's safer than we thought...

Ah! Gloomy Sunday! What a beautiful sad sad tragfic song. The imagery evoked simply by the lyrics and the melody is simply incredibly powerful.

I first discovered this song with a redition by Diamanda Galas who explained that her version was was originally recorded by Billie Holiday but was deemed too depressive sounding by the record label then for the masses so a newer "out of a dream" happier end segment was tagged onto to the song's arrangement.

The original Hungarian version has lyrics that are much gloomier, greyier and terrifying than the english version.

Played this song one time for a friend on a quiet intimate evening wher I gig and i think nobody turned up for work the next day.... or so I was told. :)

anyone has the original hungarian version?? i got only the english version..

or is that english version the original one?

suicide is so pathetic.live once and die in vain.how cheap.listen to tonnes of metal if this song is getting into you.

S z o m o r ú V a s á r n a p (Rezso Seress' original Hungarian lyrics 1933)

Meghalt a szeretet!

Vége a világnak, vége a reménynek
Városok pusztulnak, srapnelek zenélnek
Emberek vérétől piros a tarka rét
Halottak fekszenek az úton szerteszét
Még egyszer elmondom csendben az imámat:
Uram, az emberek gyarlók és hibáznak...

Vége a világnak!

LITERAL ENGLISH TRANSLATION:

It is autumn and the leaves are falling
All love has died on earth
The wind is weeping with sorrowful tears
My heart will never hope for a new spring again
My tears and my sorrows are all in vain
People are heartless, greedy and wicked...

Love has died!

The world has come to its end, hope has ceased to have a meaning
Cities are being wiped out, shrapnel is making music
Meadows are coloured red with human blood
There are dead people on the streets everywhere
I will say another quiet prayer:
People are sinners, Lord, they make mistakes...

The world has ended!

Let's just say... The thing about music is...

It is music...

If you are gonna commit suicide after listening to music... It's not the music fault. Music isn't evil(Okay, I got this from Kerry King!)! Music won't tempt you to commit suicide.

It's just the vulnerability and foolishness of your mind.

If you want to commit suicide and end your life just like that after listening to Gloomy Sunday, you're one damn weak person.

G l o o m y S u n d a y (Desmond Carter's lyrics 1935)

Sadly one Sunday I waited and waited
With flowers in my arms for the dream I'd created
I waited 'til dreams, like my heart, were all broken
The flowers were all dead and the words were unspoken
The grief that I knew was beyond all consoling
The beat of my heart was a bell that was tolling

Saddest of Sundays

Then came a Sunday when you came to find me
They bore me to church and I left you behind me
My eyes could not see one I wanted to love me
The earth and the flowers are forever above me
The bell tolled for me and the wind whispered, "Never!"
But you I have loved and I bless you forever

Last of all Sundays

Note: This is the lyric version that Diamanda Galas performs.

Gloomy Sunday (Sam M Lewis' lyrics recorded by Billie Holiday 1941)

Sunday is gloomy, my hours are slumberless
Dearest the shadows I live with are numberless
Little white flowers will never awaken you
Not where the black coach of sorrow has taken you
Angels have no thought of ever returning you
Would they be angry if I thought of joining you?

Gloomy Sunday

Gloomy is Sunday, with shadows I spend it all
My heart and I have decided to end it all
Soon there'll be candles and prayers that are sad I know
Let them not weep let them know that I'm glad to go
Death is no dream for in death I'm caressing you
With the last breath of my soul I'll be blessing you

Gloomy Sunday

Dreaming, I was only dreaming
I wake and I find you asleep in the deep of my heart, here
Darling, I hope that my dream never haunted you
My heart is telling you how much I wanted you

Gloomy Sunday

hehe, this one not safe, its just rude, coz using symbol of religion and upside down it while putting as cover to shock the masses and indirectly impressing the mind of kiddos...

Someone mention me again here..

Well, not that I've haven't been posting in this thread, but I've been reading this thru..
It's all depend on the people actually..

Like I've said, I've listen to something that is far worst than this.. If this Gloomy Sunday song drags to more than an hour, I would called it tragic.. Now that's Gloomy Sunday!
