Gibson LP Vs PRS standard satin

My limits were sorely stretched in this thread - which would why I come across as very aggressive. If you were to just refer to the post and read it out aloud like a face to face conversation - I would not come across as being snobbish or arrogant until the later part of the thread where I got really fed up by being provoked. I do have my limits.

I tend to give a benefit of a doubt when it comes to online conversations?

This IS a one dimensional medium... too easy to misunderstand, to think one is arrogant... add the memory of your past mistakes, well...

Basically, I'm saying, you're an easy target lah.

Anyway, if you're really serious about guitaring and stuff, you should carry on with the keen interest you exhibit - carry on reading, carry on learning, carry on gathering experience. You know? Like leveling up? I think that's the way some people start their journey thru the whole guitar world. At least I did. Or I THINK I did.

Ah...ChanMin... i think it depends on the type of finishing as well.. my friend's Ernie Ball music man John Petrucci guitar had really nice finishing (hard and protective and glossy)! but it cracked due to singapore's climate.. and the finishing was like 1mm thick.. but i think is nitrocellulose finishing? (pls correct me if i'm wrong.. thanks..)

I think the new Gibson Robot guitar is made of that finishing too... I guess when guitar makers do finishing, they don't really take into the account different world climates... (i guess)

Speaking of Build Flaws, i went down to standardvalue the other day, saw the new Swing and Marlique guitars that mike brought in... The Swing (korean made) had Superb workmanship! i couldn't find a blemish on the finishing, and it was smooth, and evenly polished. not to mention a really nice neck, and really good fretwork with good crowning that rivals the higher end Fenders... Just by looking over it i anticipated that it would be great to play.. and i wasn't disappointed! :) Same goes for the Marlique guitars (Indonesian made)..

I think there are so many guitars out there we have yet to try! Personally i would love to get my hand on a G&L Strat to see if its really better than the Fender strats.. since its the last legacy of the great Leo Fender...

Hmmm... well, i guess sometimes we all make mistakes and get blinded to our own mistakes... AlmondX, dun feel so bad, can always start afresh and take what you can learn from this encounter, and move on... One day i hope you'll be good enuff to repair the finishings on my guitars..if somehow it got damaged.. hehe.. ;)

PS AlmondX: You really doing free set up ah? i pass u my RG321 one day den u help me set up la.. free rite?? LOL... (exploitation of free labor in progress)

bout the crack on ernie ball instrument in local weather. I have/had 2 EBMM instruments(left one now, sold the other) before, both finishing crack on me and i sibey heart paint.. no cry mother cry father, just feel pain. Saddest thing both instrument been in thier hardcase most of the time and lil play time with it. Yet the finishing crack..

Impossible! That would have rendered the guitar void and useless!

You mean... 0.1 mm ya? 1 mm would be absolutely killa!!!

I didn't really measure it with a caliper, but i'm pretty sure it was near 1mm.. its that thick.. i'm surprised too...

PatheinRaindropMoe can verify i guess.. since he is the poor victim of such a situation.. pat patz...

Oh if i'm not wrong, you can send it back to EBMM to get it refinished, but it'll be quite expensive.. not to mention it'll happen again in this weather... :(

Oh I actually meant that if you compare a brand new black Mercs and a brand new black Hyundai, the Mercs will just seem more lustrious. Expensive coatings though - they use PPG and Dupont which are up to 10 times more expensive than what is used on the common jap car. But they are harder and can withstand more vigourous and prolonged buffing for shinier results.

Guitarwise I think Yamaha offers something really decent, especially at the price bracket of their guitars. Their buffing marks are quite minimal.

Be glad you managed to stick through the entire refinishing, it's a very very yucky time consuming and tedious process so it is an accomplishment already!

pathein needs no guitar, beer perhaps

LOL.. ok, that shows how new i am to the forum people... I'm only a beginner in guitars though, so thanks in advance for your guidances! heehee...

AlmondX: yeah i guess when you pay more, you get better a better paint job... My Timbre strat seems to have a pretty nice paint job for a price of $300 leh... i actually went to compare it with a Standard Strat up close, and side by side, can't tell the difference.. feels about the same also... Either mines as good as a standard strat, or the standard strat's finishing is as lousy as mine, or i'm juz plain cockedeye.. LOL..

oh man, don't get me started on hyundai and korean cars man..

korean cars hater? its ok can always go for a cherry qq :D

i try to steer clear of china products like cherry qq and tgm

i don't hate hyundai i just don't think they are good like some people make them out to be. but still, that being said, they are at least a notch above cherry qq.

just like bc rich nj series made in korea for example. not that good, nowhere near a usa bc rich. but still at least a notch above china made tgms (and china/indonesia made bronze series bc rich.)

the same can't be said of bronze bc riches (made in china or indonesia) though. they are basically in the same category as china made tgms. ie when bad condition tgms don't value beyond $80 in the 2nd hand market, same goes for bronzes.

for a start, how to pronounce Hyundai

1) Ha-yun-dey

or

or

3) Ha-yun-dai

or

4) Hueen-dai

it depends. depends on where you come from.

lets say you are a japanese. you'll pronounce: heeyun-dai

if you are chinese you pronounce: hyuntai

etc. i need a voice recorder. then i can teach the proper PRONOUNSIATION OF HYUNDAI.

its like carrefour. how do you pronounce?

singaporeans pronounce: carry four

i think actual pronunciation is car-foo or smth if thats the way you spell the pronunciation xD
