Ever wanted to own a Musicman? But found it too expensive?

These are MII and MIK. But falls under the EBMM name, unlike the previous OLP guitars.

If they're anything like Ibanez MIKs and MIIs, I think we can look forward to a nicely affordable Silhouette and Axis, and even the JP6.

alright bro, wallet ready, but empty :'(

if the quality is ok, then its sweet!
mystic dream jp6 available?

but then again...

"A custom shop is for when your regular guitars and basses suck"

yalor, that's why there's a chance they could suck :/

Nope. OLP had crappy hardware and crappy pickups. These... I don't know. If they're anything like the SUB1, then that's VERY impressive.

Still don't get your drift. EBMM doesn't have a custom shop. So why would these or their regular guitars suck?

I wonder about the numbering system. Can tell that the second digit of the basses' model names is the number of strings they have, but what of the others?

Whitestrat,

This "Sterling by MM", does it mean, "Sterling" is the new MII/MIK line of product to be started, under the mgmnt of MM? When can we expect these to be available?

Wow, this is good news. Something to look forward to. And I really hope some good local dealers can bring them in. :)

price range please whitey! :D

No official news yet, but seems to be PRS SE ranges...

According to the forum. This is not OLP standards. It's carrying the owner's name on it (Sterling Ball), and it says "by Musicman" this time. So there's a lot more riding on this than it did for OLP.

If they're giving the same or similar hardware (probably steel blocks rather than the brass ones today on EBMMs) I think this is going to be a hit.

I know I'll probably end up buying a bass from the Sterling line because I can't be bothered to pay that much for an EBMM when I'm not a bassist.

I hope the Sterling line doesn't suffer from the oft-mentioned neck joint finish cracks, which is putting me off EBMM's now.

However, the impending 30% increase by Fender is making this line VERY ATTRACTIVE.

What oft mentioend? Neck Joint finsh cracks? I have 8 EBMMs. Not a single one has a single crack in any of the neck joint finishes. And the EBMM forum also doesn't demonstrate this. Where's this info you're getting from?

Uhh... That's a 2003 thread.

You mean that tiny finish crack is a concern? They're everywhere. Happens on most guitars with bolt-on constructions. the 3 Ibanezes I've owned ALL had these. So did the CIJ Fender I used to have. Seems to be mainly a poly finish issue. I think Nitros don't crack like this.

So why is it most people who complain about these cracks are JP players? Abuse? Whammy usage? My JP seems to be fine so far...

no only jp lah, my ex ebmm(guitar with stoptail and stingray5) from 2001, 2002 both have that crack. The crack for the bass is so OTFT ridiculous that no one will believe its an instrument that i bought it brand new to keep in hardcase with sillica gel for 99.9% of the time over 3 years plus, when i still have it.

ebmm might have already improved on the finishing since then i guess.

Heh, either the 2 i had were lemon, the 8 you have are solid or that ebmm did improve on the finishing.

I don't have much of a wallet now, just ordered a new Schaller Floyd Rose with the nuts. At least it was cheaper than buying from any of the local shops...
