8 track recording on the go!

But how to connect a microphone to it?

full of win for the price!

for mic connection, most likely it can be done via an usb mic with the camera connection kit. Iirc, theres report of using yeti usb mic with similar app to the garageband on ipad.

theres also a studio dock thingy from alesis which has instrument and mic inputs that should pair up nicely with gb or equivalent app on the ipad i guess.

This is very affordable. Other app can only do midi or recording not both. Good one cost around $20.

I have played the garageband.
The only complain so that there is no editor.
But it make it up with "smart" instrument and loop.
With a knowledge of music theory, you can write song without much musicianship.
You can quickly arrange to song using the "smart" instrument and form a MMO.
Then sing into it.
A great tool for aspiring songwriter.
