What's up the drum looking thingy in front? Is it a wah? Volume pedal?
thats an oil can echo/delay. It existed way back in the 1960s. One of the most famous brand that did this kinda effect is called tel ray, which went on to become morley. As in the company that did the steve vai wah. And for the name morley, its a pun on another effect, leslie effect. Anyway, just google for oil can delay, theres plenty of info on that. Ebay still has that every now and then. Its not easy to maintain it for functionality, but for the way how it works, its rather interesting. Just google/wiki for more info
another quirky pedals of the early days is a tremolo effect with mercury in it which utlise it for tremolo effect. Its one of the earliest tremolo pedal, product of carvin, the same brand that did steve vai amp and lot more. ZZtop dudes is/are one of the more prominent artist who had couple of that by the way. For the tremolo, theres not much picture online, the few i saw came from brochure and one of zztop rack with that particular tremolo
actually any container(plastic, metal, wood etc etc can be used for effect as long its sturdy enough for stomping. The njiom candy box with knobs and switches is a noise/osciallating effect which i did a long while back. So for the landmine, it pretty much possible, afterall, theres already landmine effect which has enclosure thats similar to real mine. For prototyping effect, i have even use those plastic container from market for packing food as make shift enclosure.
For quirky pedal, one of AMT effect even had mentionings of using some space shuttle material for its pedal. How true is that, god knows, as long as the sound is decent with instrument plugged in.
and for toys enclousre, this one, my favourite. Non guitar related, but another awesome controller/instrument for making music.
