fret inlays

hi there.i need some help here regarding the frets.a common inlay is the dot.is it possible to change its inlay shapes as i'm intending to invest some money for this.someone answer the call.
 
yea anyone knows?? cos im thinking about changing my inlays too, issit possible? and where do we get it done?
 
It is most definately possible but if you want a professional job - you have to pay for it. Its pricey.

Or if you don't mind amature work, you can search thru SOFT... there was a recent work with passable amature work though I suppose I would scream at a tech if he did that standard of work on my guitar.

Anyway, just wondering, lets see from anoher side, for those who wanna do fancy inlays or have the whole fretboard replaced with mother of pearl or any fancy sea shell, whats is the budget you are willing to pay and why do you think its a fair price?
 
I would so kill for a MOP Fretboard.

Sometimes, just say it lah. Its also difficult to keep it down when its blatantly ... oops... said too much... bwahaha...
 
New inlays are best done if you are doing a complete new fret job.... trying to inlay a fretboard with frets on it is tiresome and wont yield the same results as inlaying then sanding the fretboard flush.

Repalcement dot MOP or Abalone inlays are eaasily available either from the net or at Dan Enterprise $th floor Peninsula Shopping Ctr (Just done ask Dan to inlay for you ...if U know what I mean).

Make sure U get the right size. common strat dot sizes are the 6mm but other may vary...

Other option, get a custom made Warmoth or other boutique company neck with all the inlays of your choice..

Yes sir... it is me... hopefully I am consistant even in the real world!

I would want fretboard but no inlays... just side dots. This is to confuse people so they would play poorly on my guitar.
 
consistency in real world not necessary all the time, especially when dealing with people that give us our our salary monthly or any thing benefical

ahh, the fretboard with no inlays cool, i like the simplicity of nothingness but yet having its own charm.

shred, you should try my guitar then. ebony board, no inlays. its damn fun joining noobs bands and confusing the rest of them when they try to follow what you play on a blank fretboard.
 
Sam, I already have a guitar with no inlays. :D

And when I just got my then-new USACG, I was covering songs for an event... I had to play "When I see You Smile". Can you imagine, if I screwed up the solo?!? And I had no fretboard inlays... MAN.
