Well, the Varitone is something like a tone pot ... It can make my guitar sound like a hollow body jazz guitar, then switch it to a fat, warm bluesy tone, then switch it to a thin, lower output tone, and so on. Great stuff... I will post some clips of it asap. ;)

Ah,... switchcraft jacks are the industry standard jacks... nothing else to it.

Everything cost me around $800?

The difference lies only in the pole pieces' placement. In which the F-spaced are slightly wider apart. He bought it from Dimarzio.

pole piece are farther apart..I know! dats why I ask...you canna fit F-space in regular cover. What is DiMarzio part number for F-spaced cover??? I canna find on da website

GG1601 for f-spaced covers.

Its under the hardware section on www.dimarzio.com

Hey dan no more locking strap nuts?

No more man... I tried the Dunlop Straplocks and I didn't like the amount of noise they make.. then I tried the Schaller straplocks but I found that the locking nut on them always come off! Then I went for the Dimarzio cliplocks, ultra secure and quiet... but they were too long!

So I'm back to the norm... :)

just curious, where did you get the inductor for the varitone? bought it as a kit from somewhere?

I remember the original varitone inductor is around the size of a pickup.

Hey man, I bought this varitone from an online dealer... do a google.. it'll turn up! :)

And yeah, the orignal was BIG. This is the size of what, 4 10cent coins stacked up.

hmm, just remembered, i also wanted to ask... what's that 5-way megaswitch you were intending to put into your guitar at first? sounds wicked.

That megaswitch is basically a 5-way with 24 lugs so it can replicate the complicated H-H wiring that ibanez uses. A normal strat 5 way cannot replicate that wiring.

Problem was that the megaswitch was too large for my control cavity so I had no choice but to ditch the idea and use a 3-way but add in the coil split and phase for versatility.
