Ferrari dirver bashed up in malaysia. i'll be blunt here..

number one best option:

TAKE PUBLIC TRANSPORT!!!!!!!!! go to larkin and buy a bus ticket, some malaysian bus drivers are kick ass ex formula one drivers! they go on highway FREAKING FAST BOSS!

guys, i apologize for being rude over a controversial issue. i didn't mean to start a fight. i just wanted to point out someting. i'm sure many malaysians are disgusting too in singapore  i'm pretty sure those kapchai riding factory workers have once irritated you one way or another. i aplogize on their behalf too. as a matter of fact, they're no different when they come back to jb. ;)

but there're more serious issues.
1. singapore cars are always targeted for crime. especially luxury ones. mind you, a mitsubishi lancer is already considered a luxury in malaysia.. drive proton and you'll be safe  i myself avoid going down to jb streets. too many weird people around.

2. most malaysian police summon for kopi money, not for law or safety. when a crime happens, they won't do more than take a statement and file it. i have a friend who was murdered and the suspect was so obvious but no action taken. can't count on them unless you're a datuk's son (or have a mongolian mistress ) if not the crime commited unto you will just another statistic. i was a victim of a gruesome crime too. i'm pretty sure the police won't do much to arrest the people who assaulted the ferrari victims.

3 i was blind not to acknowledge that they were victims of crime. i know it's very wrong and disturbing but generally, the reaction here is pretty indifferent. there's a serious issue here because many malaysians see singaporeans in a bad light.

there will always be name-calling, sarcastic remarks or worse, bad blood among 2 neighbouring countries with a long history such as singapore and malaysia. but in retrospect, a vast majority can still get along with each other.

anyways, i feel imo that those ferrari drivers (actually a convoy of high-end luxury cars) were just asking for it. you bring about unwanted attention given malaysia's high crime rate. its tough luck but it could have happened to anyone be it driving a lancer or a cooper.

its like walking in the streets of JB carrying your LV handbag and talking on your iphone 3g. either you're stupid or you just dont give a ****.

i guess it's same as a pretty gal wearing sexy outfit walking around in an unguarded prison...
i mean u know the crime rate is high in m'sia...especially in jb...so avoid showing off too much...

n regarding the bribery...sometimes i just can't blame the police...i mean come on, how to survive with such low income? imagine sg traffic police with 800sgd/month...it would turn out to be the same...it's their surviving instinct...

i still don't see any connection with singaporean's bad driving habits on NS highway and them bring targeted for mugging/robbery/etc. Robbers don't target bad drivers. They target people whom they think they can get most $$$$ from right? The incompetency of the police force allows them to do so. Isn't this a bigger factor then almost anything else?

I dun understand how someone can link a victim of an unfortunate incident to the point that he deserves it, just because he is singaporean and drives a ferrari.

This makes its sound like the robbers' crime is justified because the victim is singaporean and rich, and "ALL" singaporeans are proud. THe fact that you come here into a forum that is majority singaporeans and has a .SG behind means u enjoy our discussions and cyber-company. SO in short, if we all sit at the same table to eat, it doesnt matter if u msia or singaporean, AS LONG AS THE FOOD IS GD!!!

I agree most singaporeans are v rude drivers, but finally we have so much free road and no limit, we just go crazy. Most msia drivers are v frenly on the road and give way. BUT in this case, its no longer a matter of nationality, but we shld understand that who is the victim and criminal.

As always immature people turn this into a country vs country thingy. People - this is a simple case of robber vs victim.

I wouldn't go as far to say the Ferrari owner was asking for it - but he/she knew the risks of driving such an expensive car. Robbers won't rob from the poor generally. Why waste the effort? Go for the big money.

As for the reason he's speeding to escape the robber? That's stupid. If they were in a full convoy as they were SUPPOSE to be - why would the robber pick out one car and chase them out of a convoy? The fact remain he/she was separated from the convoy - as was picked upon. How did that car got separated from the convoy ? Doesn't take a genius to understand.

With regards to enforcing the law - the Malaysian police needs a revamp but unfortunately this can only happen if the people in power push for it. We Malaysian are trying to use our votes for a better country but it will take time. So as for now - us Malaysians got to put up with whatever we have.

To be frank -and you can disagree with me - that's fine. Enforcement of laws in Singapore is pretty much easy due to one very critical factor - the country is small in physical size. There's pretty much no where to run. However I take nothing away from the Singapore police - they do a good job.

Anyhow - as law abiding is a very much touted virtue of a Singaporean - I thought I would challenge this. I observe with candidness the behaviour of a number of Singaporeans. What I see if merely behaviour modification. Most comply within the country because of fear. Bring them out of the country and all hell breaks loose. So to say that most Singaporeans are law abiding is kind of misleading. If they were law abiding, it does not matter which country they are in - they will be law abiding. Pretty much like a kid who only behaves in front of their parents. How many Singaporeans are actually law abiding ? I wouldn't know. However I would like to believe the vast majority of them are. But who cares - as the news all over the world only likes to report on the bad apples. This gives the perception once again.

c'mon lah . singapore and malaysia , we were once together man !

i heard that malaysians hate singaporeans . for some political reasons.
and they always target singaporeans. hmm.

No lah - that's what the media would like you to believe. Afterall juicy bits like this sells news lah.

did anybody know that the guy who got bashed up after he crashed his black spyder ferrari was actually a malaysian businessman? (read the follow up articles) he was driving to genting in his singapore registered ferrari to join a convoy club thingy there.

he wasn't part of the singapore ferrari + porche convoy that drove up earlier on. where the gang members made two failed atempts to mug them or something.

well thing is, it doesn't matter what nationality or what country-registered car you're driving. if bad luck hits you, you'd be mugged anyhoots. just be safe when driving on foriegn soil.

Our neighbours are just envious of how much we are better off since we left that country years ago .

As a Malaysian - I have to agree to a certain extent. Although we could do without the sarcasm - the content has a bit of truth in it. I think it has to do more with Malaysia having so much yet the authorities are squandering it all away. We are more frustrated with our own government more than being jealous of Singapore.

However one should not be too proud. The fact as almost all the basic needs of Singapore are provided from neighbouring countries. Water, vegetables, meat, eggs, sand for construction, cement, etc. An economic sanction will crriple Singapore's economy and devastate the population - as they will be unable to even feed themselves. The recent fuel price hike in Malaysia and the subsequent effect on food prices in Singapore is a grim reminder of how much Singapore's economy is dependant on neighbouring countries.

I guess what we're trying to say is give a little respect and respect will be given back. We have no desire to see our fellow friends in Singapore suffer. In fact we are happy they are prospering - cause this will have a positive effect on Malaysia as well. At the end of the day all or us are trying to raise our families in peace.

However misplaced arrogance is foolhardy.

Well guys here is my two cents worth.

I feel that the thread-starter should not have conveyed the message in such a crude way. It was from a very biased point of view on singaporean drivers.

I think that you (thread-starter) are not trying to inform the fellow softies about the matter of the car accident. You are trying to express your anger towards us singaporean drivers just because of some bad experiences you had with so-called "us".

Yes, everyone of us can say that there is an ugly side to SOME singaporeans. But how about Malaysia? If we singaporeans were to start making a big fuss about the robbing and rape cases that happen in malaysia to us fellow singaporeans, I'm sure it would be worst.

And to the final part of your post. What are you trying to do? Why must you threaten us singaporeans? If you have to so-called "warn" us, you could have done it in a polite and non-aggreviating way. This is absurb, you clearly have a problem with singaporeans and you just want to create a commotion.

I feel that the moderators should close this thread down as it would only get worst. Thread-starter, don't take some of the previous posts personally as I know that some of the posts are also quite blunt too. But hey, dont' blame us, the things that you posted first were inviting comments like these.

Please close this thread down, this thread would only get worst. And thread-starter, word of advice, if you want to start racist or national discrimination, please don't do it here. Share it with your fellow malaysians instead. They would sympathise with you more than we would.
