Fender texas special pup problems!

My bridge pickup is faulty. In fact its NOT working damn it!!!

Initially i thought its some wiring problem so i brought it down to Guitar77 and Guitar Connection. Beez told me he's encountered several of these problems. He told me that fender pickups are pretty fragile.

And he once complained to the supplier about a spoilt texas pup(tele) and got a replacement set.

So does anyone have any problems with ur fender single coil so far?

Its really sad... my pickups are brand new and such problems surface already....

They seem to break at the solder joint ....had couple similar issue !!
Ok do this ....meausure your pup for resistance ....no read out ?? ...then you got yourself a broken coil joint.

beez told me its not the solder joint issue. He said that the coil has problem.

The solution is to rewire it which would be very costly. Or get a new one. I think he said something about the coil wire being faulty

how else can it be faulty unless for raptured coil wire ??
Did u have a look urself ?? measure for resistance ?

I use to give up ...but when i realised "at times" through much pain - it can be saved !!

if its broken somewhere in the middle (or at times due to bad insulation) then needs rewinding ....but if its somewhere in the beginning of the wind ...possible to be saved!!

Hmm.

My Telecaster had a faulty pickup.. whereby the neck pickup had a broken ground wire which caused the pickup to buzz like crazy when I touched it. The tone was fine and all, but the buzzing irked me.. so I got myself a Dimarzio Twang King and it's basically the same sound minus the buzz.

Yea i do believe the coil is broken somewhere and its due to manufacturing defect. I didnt do anything to the coils. And i took care of them nicely.

So u guys recommend that i write to fender or something? I mean my only options are:
1. Rewind the pickup(costly)
2. Buy new pickup
3. Complain and wait.

If i choose 2, i dun think i'll get fender pickups again...

Hmm.

figure out the output of the pickup and see if you can find a replacement which is similar in spec. If you like the sound then why not go to SL (urgh) and order in from them... or go the Seymour Duncan or Dimarzio route.

If you still have a problem I'm willing to help to repair the coil. Fenders, especially the nrewer ones are not soldered properly which can result in the coil contact breaking or the wire breaking in the early winds of the coil.

I have had success repairing them and would be willing to take the job from you if you are preapared to send them to me in Oz. My friend sent me a set of Bardens t o repair that way and I was able to get them in a week, repair them and return them to him in another week, so within three week turnaround. If you want to do something, then pm.

cheers,

Mark.

and their prices is VERY ATTRACTIVE

I guess its about time to get a Seymour Duncan SSL-5.

Thats the closest you can get to the Texas Specials.

Should be 80 bucks.

Or of you want som serious classic overwound strat tones, Try the Antiquities Texas Hots.

Thanks guys for all your kind offer....

I just emailed fender and am expecting a reply soon.

I suspect that its a break in the coil winding. Yea totally no sound....

it has NOTHING to do with the solder joint.

ok...

There are 2 BILL LAWRENCE. Both claiming to be the original BILL LAWRENCE.

the GOD OF PICKUPS BILL LAWRENCE is over here. http://www.billlawrence.com/

the ex partner of the GOD OF PICKUPS who's still retaining some LEGAL rights to the name Bill Lawrence here.
http://www.billlawrenceusa.com/

I've tried and tested both L500.

1st L500 experience was on a nuno N2 or something like that. SUCKASSSS... Feedbacked like mad. If Dimebag and Nuno was using it... How could it be wrong... Apparently the pickups were from the ex'pardner.

2nd L500 experience was when I first ordered a bunch of the Real Deal Bill Lawrence here on Soft many moons back. There were some who ordered the L500 and mymymy.... Crystal clear no holds barred clarity and power.

www.billlawrence.com makes the best pickups in the world. I'd choose it over any other pickups but.... only if THEY WOULD REPLY MY FRICKEN EMAIL!!!
