Fender

I have a 50th Anniversary American Standard Telecaster (Black). I bought it in 1998; it is my first branded electric guitar!

I got it because I was helping a friend to look out for a generic budget black colour guitar, and I chance upon this piece. I think an ex-member of the local band back in the late 90's "sugarflies" was selling her (the tele) really really really cheaply.

Bought her. Fell in love with her, and she's with me through thick and thin, through extreme brutal satanic death black metal to chinese pop to jazz.

Good Telecasters are just wonderful instruments; meant to keep for a lifetime.

TF signing off. :)

i bought a tele in '98 as well, but it's not the Anniversary model, just the plain ol' American Standard... back then, these goodies could be had for well below $1k... those were the days...

A few years back I was actually hunting for a maple neck stratocaster. Went to SweeLee one fine day and one of the guitars on display caught my eyes.

Requested to try it, played it, and almost immediate without hesistation bought it. Call me foolish but :( I didn't even ask for discount.

It was just one of those really-want-it-badly-NOW! and come-home-with-me kind of guitar; loving it ever since. Sounds gh3y but ah well, fell in love with it ever since then.

PS: Stratocasters are really sexy; imo.

Regards,
Newbie

Up next a Gibbie poll?? Hehe..
I don't own any Fenders myself, but I must admit the C neck is one of the most comfortable I've played, both for chordwork and soloing..
But if I were to get a Fender, I'd aim for a Tele; sounds amazing, but I hate the looks.. :???:

Hmmm i bought my fender american strat 3tsb back in 2003 when i was in Japan, i kinda went through a number of MIJ strats but somehow they didnt really appeal to me even though they were really well made guitars and still are imo! So after a week's search i finally stumbled upon a beautiful 3tsb american strat in one of the store at Ocha No Mizu.......tried it and WALAAA this was it! It was a really sweet deal as well, so i snapped it up and never looked back since then..........love it more than my Gibson SG till now.

i dont own any now...but the fav one that i owned was a '93 MIM floyd rose standard...
basically a MIM sambora without the dimarzio...i got that so damn cheap...under $300.

then had a MIM tele...couldnt get used to the slab...then had a Highway 1...but uhh that went away too.

looks like im fated to stick with SGs :P

I've got myself a 3 TSB CIJ Jaguar, upgraded with seymour duncans' quarter pounds, both neck and bridge pus. Loving every single bit of it. Main reason why i bought it was coz of it's looks and the cool looking chrome parts.

Actually, I find the V necks a little "protuding".. Kinda hurts a lil when I play, especially since I'm a lead player who likes to go up and down the neck..

I own a CIJ 3TS St-62 with texas specials. bought it in 07. Before this I had a humbucker guitar, took me sometime to get use it the SC sound. Fell in love with it, the tone of the wood seems to come through more, sounds more "organic" to me. I'm lovin it. :)

I've got:
-2 lefty Jaguars (1 3TS, heavily modified, added 3rd pickup, 1 Olympic White with block inlays)
-1 lefty Olympic White 95' American Standard Strat with 70s' pickups
-1 lefty 72' Custom Tele reissue with a 73' vintage Seth Lover humbucker.

Love em for:
-Trademark/distinctive tones
-Comfortable contoured body (minus the Custom Tele but it's ultra lightweight)
-Classic looks

Absolutely love the Fenders for what they do. Everyone of them does somehing different (even with my 2 Jaguars as they're fitted with different pickups/configuration).

Ive got a CIJ 66' Reissue Mustang and a CIJ Telecaster 62'reissue.
Love em both! xD
Now am awaiting my first american fender jazzmaster

I have only one strat left. I used to have 3 strats in my collection. They were all sold for Musicmans...

But nevertheless, this last remaining strat has something none of the other do. It's a Vintage HotRod 57.

It's got a quartersawn neck, and the whole guitar weighs only almost 7lbs. It's so bloody light. And the neck is a soft V, but very thin. 9.5" radius, medium jumbo frets. 3 piece Alder Body, but that doesn't stop it from having a really fine tone. And it's thin-skin nitro. Need I say more?

thusfar- there are 2x as many strat owners as there are teles... the strat has indeed a strong following. also good to know that the guitar players here own basses as well 8-)

Own a 60th Anniv MIM strat. Bought it cause I've always loved the sound of a strat.. Always been influenced by the Clapton sound. So when I got the cash, the first thing I went ahead and look for was the strat... Am still loving my guitar...
