fender maple / rosewood fingerboard enquiry

yeah... or something like that but you married PAF sound with maple fretboards which does not make sense to me.

maple has this certain 'PAF' quality that i dig, not present in rw

PAF = Gibson = Rosewood fretboard as how I link it to be.

A lot of the perceived spank and high end from a maple neck could be the product of overly thick lacquer finishing.

I kinda dun think so... I have both finished and unfinished maple necks. Both sound spanky.

THEN again, I have a RW Fender 62AVRI. That's actually brighter than my Fender 57 HRRI which is maple...

So go figure... whahahahaha...

i prefer maple for the brighter tone and attack. and u dont have to worry about ur skin getting stuck in RW! and of course no dry fretboards! hah!

RW definitely has a warmer tone. i think for humbuckers RW seems the best but ppl like Paul Gilbert uses the maple for that extra bite that he's known for. real nice.

if u want to get a strat, get one with the alder body. it sounds more strat than the basswood one.
