Fender just screwed me over.

This year cause of the recession , i guess peoples boutique and expensive basses will be the first to get offloaded should they need the money . I'm sure you'll find something nice this year , patience . Fender didn't screw you over . You just gave up too soon , either that or you don't know where to get them cheap .

i got screwed because of their increase in first hand prices, that's all. and about that, i do know that second hand stuff has the best value, it's just that i wanted to avoid second hand as far as possible due to previous experiences. but since it looks like even first hand MIMs are out of the question, i'm turning to Ishibashi's Ubox for cheaper prices and reliabilty (i hope).

I'm sure you can find a first hand one at the original price . Fender may have increased their prices but some dealers may not.

by the looks of it, most online dealers are now selling at 09's prices. i'm almost certain the bass i'm looking for can't be found in s'pore, sadly.

well good luck with the search , don't give up and i'm sure an opportunity will come by hhahah

I hope an increase in price would mean an increase in quality?

Frankly, I think yamaha basses are good. But somehow, they just don't have the brand equity compared to fender?

the 2009 MIM Standards were upgraded, they now come with maple necks and the long discontinued lake placid blue finish. that might explain the price increase for those models, but not for every other model, and even those already out on the shelves. and i don't think it would take a 30% price increase to bring up the build quality, which is supposedly getting better by the year.

i have no doubt that Yamaha makes quality basses, it's just that i'm looking for that classic Fender Jazz tone. and yeah, Fender definitely has more brand equity due to its popularity.

yeah, i asked them a long time ago before. too bad Fender Japan doesn't have what i'm looking for at an affordable price...

the brand new prices add a base for the 2nd hand market in the long term.

but people who bought cheap in 2008 due to the weak usd etc. will def be more willing to sell cheap.

esp in this economic climate.
