Fastest.

the tiago vella video has been manipulated. the video is clearly being played at more than its actual speed.

look really, really carefully!

I don't think so... hay88 has pointed out the quite obvious analogy, UNLESS he was really setting his screensaver speed til that speed which it look fine when forwarded...

And he also did two 'chops from hell' columns... I don't think he will "disgrace" himself by doing that either...

Lastly, I felt he was just demonstrating a technique in speed albeit it sounds like wind howling or some vehicle alarms to me...

killinghall: which part...i cannot spot it...the screensaver on his monitor looks fine too?

hay, i'd say throughout...the movement of his hands and arms...just don't look natural to me. and the grain that appear on the video, they remind me of a fast-forwarded vcr.

i really could be wrong, but that's the impression i get...

I place my bet on Michael Angelo's No-Shadow Hands.

Actually I am abit sick of M.A.B...

He looks like he's a pugilist whenever he plays the guitar, 杀气 very heavy... :P

杀气 = the aura of "killing" aka he looks very "fierce"...

You're right.... I guess Vai sort of moved on to a whole new level... On Dave Weiner Forum, there was a discussion on Dave and Vai's practice regime. And Dave revealed they don't sit and run scales anymore, its more of compositions and figuring out new stuff.

Oh yeah, and if anyone wants to hear Vai shred, as in really SHRED, listen to Rescus Me or Bury Me. The 3 min (or was it 4?) solo is mind blowing.... esp at the end, the shred run was insane.

I guess speed is just something the majority aspires to attain. Kind of reminds me of the movie 'Hero', featuring Jet Li.
Hell, it's probably irrelevant, but here goes,

According to the movie, the mastery of the blade consists of three levels.

First level:
Ren Jian Wei Yi
The cohesion between the blade and the wielder.

Second level:
Xin You Jian, Shou Wu Jian
The blade exist solely in your heart, enabling you to kill the enemy from a hundred paces away, without actually touching him.

Blade Nirvana:
Xin Wu Jian, Shou Wu Jian
The absence of the blade in both your heart and your hand. Meaning that when one reaches the zenith of blade-mastery, he is no longer interested in killing. But instead advocates more worthy causes, such as the preservation and valuing of the human life.

It does relates to playing the guitar, with killing being shredding. While the blade-enthusiast works hard at being more lethal, the guitarist works hard at getting faster.
And the attainment of nirvana being when you come to realise that shredding is actually not everything, and that there is infinitely more to music.
