Fasten Your Seatbelts! 26th January 2008

=laughingman

despite what you said, i believe photographers should practice some self-restraint. the audience pays $15-$20 to see bands, not photographers. i understand your point about the sponsors but if it's possible for other photographers to get good crowd shots in the same situation without standing in the middle of the stage, why can't the others?

walking across the stage can be done behind, at the backline. doing it in front just annoys the vocalist or whoever else that was supposed to be the main centre of attention.

ditto superman. the stage is for the band, not for you. the stage-divers at hellfest don't spend half the time looking for somewhere to jump.

well.. there was almost 1m of walking space behind the projection screen...

Photographers at Baybeats and other Esplanade shows manage to get great shots of bands and crowd with a strict no go area on the stage.. True there is a barricade...

If the sponsors want to see crowd shots it makes more sense to get everyone to cheer in the change over times

Have to say i agree with Super Kicky, ppl have paid to see the bands, when the photogs are causing a distraction its going to far

but the crowd lah.must learn how to take care of each other.

thats becoming a big problem in the scene, alot of kids are moshing like they own the pit or something. respect the space guys! and pick up the fallen, people would do the same for u when u fall.
and i still dont get why people wanna kung-fu when the song is not even suitable for it??

On behalf of the Fasten Your Seatbelts! crew, I would like to say a huge thank you to everybody who came and to everyone else who didn't, you guys missed a freaking awesome show! I had loads of fun organising this event and I would also like to thank Syed, Roslan and Ben from Invasion Productions for all the help that they have given me! Keep your eyes peeled for the 3rd installment of Fasten Your Seatbelts!

Just to clear the photographer's name, I gave them full permission to go the mile to take the shots that they need.

I am honestly quite touched that some photographers would want to go the extra mile to take better pictures; for example, one of them was asking me for a ladder the minute I asked him to shoot for me so that he could take better shots

I am sure that the photographers do not mean to divert any of your attention from the band to themselves.

And so far I haven't gotten any complaints from the bands about them being "in the way".

All I have to say is, let's just wait for the photos to come out.

Withered Tree wants to thank everyone involved in Fasten your Seatbelts, Every single soul that was there. The sound man and lighting guys , the effort placed into the whole event . Was something very very admirable . Tough this might not have been our best perfomance at all, we still enjoyed every minute of it.. it really felt like a proper gig with other bands and some people who had seen us for the time stand thru the whole performace. Bands like WGB , Caracal , AV fuc**in A! GOD DAMN mind blowers.. This was an honour . To a better more GARANG performance at Weekend Trip . See ya then! thanks to rachel,Syed , Ben and everyone involved and who were there for the performace once again

i agree with superkicky and someone. and also rachel.

because it's true that it's nice that these photographers went the extra mile to take good shots. but then again, they could have loitered less on stage. they were kinda on stage for almost the whole set for some bands.

i notice that you keep saying people are just complaining and not contributing at quite a number of threads. hmmm i see them as opinions, rather than complaints. and we are all entitled to our opinions aren't we? if nobody had any opinions about what's going on in our scene, then it would be pretty boring and stagnant, wouldn't it?

besides, how do you know these people haven't been contributing? with our nicks, it's kinda hard to identify who's who.

Oh and WT would like to add great old Roslan behind the Mac, Reuven , Ken and anyone who we missed out .. P.S i saw the photos ken took.,. bloody worth it ..

still kicking myself for not having been there.

well for the photographers i'm sure this is just constructive criticism =) you guys are wonderful, thank you for all the photos at all the gigs when the rest of us are flailing away madly!

sorry to the kids i destroyed during DKNY and THE DEPARTURE. thats for aiming us druing wgb's set.

haha!nice nice.hope you had good time destroying them.i never managed to get mine back.
the noob snowcap guy went to the front during ava set -_-.
dare to shove me off during wgb while i was standing still and enjoying the set, never there in the pit to get the return back.

haha rach was sure bz on that day, going in and out of the guiness theatre one minute she's in and another she's out. would have prolly won if that guy didn't came in (for some reason he went out) but hey its a needle in a haystack.

i suppose kerplunk and shaney went together? since kerplunk u won the ticket?lemme recall u were wearing a white tee and shaney was wearing um pointed black shoes? if my memory serves me well that is.

Haha yeah, my legs are all cramped up now. Proves how long it has been since I exercised. Acks... Can't move much; even had to skip work today. =/

hello all.

first and foremost, i need to thank miss inch chua for helping me land a photographer pass for the event. and to rachel for bothering to print my name on it. trust me, this amateur shutterbug was swooning the moment he saw the pass. it was surreal, haha!

on the whole photography matter, i guess it was a little uncomfortable seeing additional people on stage. at times, they got in the way of the performers, with the occasional headbutting or bumping into each other. perhaps it wasn't a very good idea to let photographers go up there. the ladder was a rather nifty touch though, as long as it didn't get in the way.

and just for clarification's sake, there was a nice 1m walkway behind the stage as somebody mentioned a few posts back. it was my favourite route actually, from stage left to right and vice versa. it beats going through the crowd, for sure.

i thought winni, the emcee/radiopulze dj, did a pretty good job, with her short interview questions to fill in the gaps in-between bands.

all in all, i had a blast on saturday.

alas, i've already spoken too much. the pictures can be found here:
