Just came back from china. Phew the amount of FAKE GIBSON, IBANEZ and Fenders are everywhere almost every shops.

nevermind china, maybe there's a Fender which is NOT made by Fender near your shop's vicinity...?

i have acquaintances in non-SG forums alerting me of fakes of all brand names coming from singapore. having defended my motherland from such disgraceful desecration of intellect, it is to my utmost dismay to actually come across that very fake here.

therefore, 'singapore is selling fake Fenders' is a valid claim.

Nothing stinks more than China's business ethics. If they can use starch to make fake milk powder for infants, industrial grease discharge to make chilli oil for export.....what is plywood in making fake Gibsons & Fenders to them?

recently at american chili's restaurant i found fake tabasco.
no prizes for guessing where it came from.

and the taste? dont wanna think about it.
smelled like wet toilet paper also.

so yea, China would do anything to make pirated stuff.

Speaking of copies - have U all seen the csignature series copies at Ranking sports? Got Vai, Satch, Petrucci & Gilbert models ... even the TGM strat copy has "lawsuit" headstock & "kilat" finishing....

From what I saw the headstock Ibanez copy but slightly longer...with TGM embosed on it.

Truss rod cover -el cheapo type

Vine inlays on the Vai - quite ok

FR bridge - cfmd cheapo aftermarket

Friend of mine - a guitar maker from India bot a few pieces ...

except for the mentioned items - the rest quite stock copy and dirt cheap too....

Actually it is possible to find gems among these copies but many are lemons and it may not be worth the effort. But if u do find a good piece, please do take it into consideration. After all, a good guitar is a good guitar, regardless of origin or maker. Jus mod it a bit like change the bridge from say the cheapo FR to gotoh or schaller or EDGE, and pickups change, then u'll get a pretty good axe already.
