Emmanuel Adebayor is set to return to the Arsenal squad for the short trip to West Ham on Sunday.

The Togolese striker has been sidelined since hurting his thigh in the Carling Cup tie at West Brom a week ago but has a “90 per cent” chance of being involved a Upton Park.

“We could have Emmanuel Adebayor available for the weekend,” Arsène Wenger told Arsenal TV Online in an exclusive interview on Thursday afternoon. “I would rate his chances at about 90 per cent but Emmanuel Eboue and Freddie Ljungberg will still be short. Those three are the closest to coming back but the only one likely to join in is Adebayor."

The manager added that Ljungberg (calf) would be one more week, Julio Baptista (hamstring) would be two weeks and Abou Diaby (ankle) was unlikely to figure until January.

There were no new injuries picked up in the 0-0 draw with CSKA Moscow on Wednesday.

Arsenal TV Online subscribers can see the full interview with Arsène Wenger on Friday morning. In it he talks about: the chances missed against CSKA, Tomas Rosicky’s error in front of goal, the Hamburg game, West Ham’s season, the influence of their two Argentineans and his reported interested in Nigel Reo-Coker earlier this season.

West Ham United-

Arsenal-

By Richard Clarke

If there is any justice in the footballing world then someone, somewhere will concede a hatful of goals to Arsenal soon.

Arsène Wenger’s side manufactured exactly 50 shots for themselves in the two games at Emirates Stadium this week but came away with only one goal to show for it.

Against Everton last Saturday and CSKA in midweek, Arsenal showed that, on one hand, they can carve through defences with artistry. But, on the other, they can sometime lack the final flourish.

Wenger takes his side to West Ham on Sunday. In their last Premiership trip, Arsenal had the crucial cushion of an early goal and went on to produce their most complete performance of the season.

The Hammers may have only just arrested an alarming run of eight straight defeats but the manager distance himself from suggestion that his side would mete out their own form of justice at Upton Park

"It would certainly be a bit pretentious to say someone will suffer the backlash this weekend,” he said at Friday’s pre-game press conference. “You want just to continue and play well like we did. Every game is different and in every one you have different problems.

"The feeling amongst the players after the two games was frustration. They felt they had a lot of quality and they have not got the complete reward for what they produced. And they are right. I cannot say they are wrong.

“On Sunday, we just want to keep the same level of quality in our game and, if we do that, then we have a good chance to beat West Ham.”

Wenger has drafted Emmanuel Adebayor into his squad following his recovery from a thigh problem. Emmanuel Eboue trained on Friday for the first time since picking up a knee injury and could make a return in Wednesday’s Carling Cup tie at Everton. Freddie Ljungberg (calf) is a week away from fitness and Brazilian midfielder Julio Baptista (hamstring) a fortnight.

West Ham’s signed their own South Americans on deadline day however Carlos Tevez and Javier Mascherano have started only five games between them. Their acquisition has had coincided with a horrible run of defeats. The media have speculated their presence has upset the balance of the side, Wenger disagrees with the theory. He had the duo watched himself but did not pursue the interest.

"I don’t think that the players can disrupt the group,” he said. “What could do it is maybe a possible takeover from the top. I don’t think the players would it. It is more linked to a more global situation.

"We watched them before they signed of course and they are both good players but I never went any further," he concluded. "I was never completely convinced that we needed a holding player [Mascherano] and a striker [Tevez] as well so I never made any inquiry.”

Chelsea played like crap today.. esp the Bouhlarouz (not sure if i got the spelling correct).. he subbed Ferreira but was subbed out.. wahahah.. the ultimate insult to a non-injured football player..

WOOO HOOOO Arsenal and Chelsea both lost today. Arsenal was beaten 1-0 by West Ham. Just wondering what "telah" happened with Arsenal. Again Arsenal had a problem finding the net. Aiyo Arsenal fans, these cannot happen always lah or else how to win the premiership  .For Chelsea, it is about time you lose. Thanks for paving the way for Man U to win the premiership title.

I really think Arsenal should think things thru because they have a big problem in their hands. A team that cannot score is a team that is destined to be relegated. Maybe Henry should retire and pave the way for more agile and younger striker like Theo Walcott.

ARSENE WENGER and Alan Pardew face an FA rap for their amazing four-letter bust-up at Upton Park.
Arsenal boss Wenger appeared to shout “f***ing disgrace” after shoving Pardew following Marlon Harewood’s dramatic 89th-minute winner.

Not the way to lose man.....so ungentlemanly!!!!!

COMMENT ON THIS STORY

ARSENAL’S title ambitions up in smoke, Arsene Wenger going crackers, Alan Pardew going off like a rocket.

hmm i agreed to ur comment to a certain extend bro...but let just say soccer is just a unique game to watch...yup they have problem to find the net but if the opposition team is like know how to stop the passing game of Arsenal with a bit of luck here and there, den is not Arsenal who have the problem....but yet..is still to early for us to predict who the winner yet..Now because of their recent form lately, ppl state they have a problem. When they were on top of their game, people start to tag them as the most beautiful team in Europe.Funny at how some people look at soccer.

and why should Henry retire when he is still healthy, still have the pace and still hunger for goals? Is just tat, when he has the ball, more den 2 defender marking him. So is that a problem for Arsenal or the opposition know how to neutralise Arsenal attacking strategy?

Im waiting for the ever naive fgl comment...coz im Arsenal fan too...so im really anxious to wait wat he gonna say

Oh c'mon...fgl...accept it! I bet you might blame the boots of the players next...or the ball isn't round at all...or maybe the grass blades are too high, the goal posts are uneven...the crowd's breath was too bad...
