'The crowd and the team were great, the result was bad'
Arsenal 0-0 CSKA Moscow
Champions League Group Stage
Arsenal Stadium
Wed, Nov 1, 2006, 7.45pm

on his team's performance...
"It was the best Champions League game we've played since I've been here. Of course it is frustrating with the result. The normal score in this game is 7-0. Maybe 7-1 because they had a chance as well. I feel that there's a lot of positives for the team."

on missed chances...
"I don't think tonight we could be guilty of wanting to score the perfect goal. We created clear-cut chances and we didn't take them - it happens in the game. We dominated this Moscow team by miles, and I think it was a division difference tonight between the teams, but we have to take the result."

on Group G...
"Well, the group is very close, and that decision in Moscow to cancel our good goal looks costly at the moment. But we are strong enough to deal with that. I feel that out of the game tonight, it depends on how we deal with that frustration, because there is so much positives in the game I hope the team will take a lot of encouragement and be even more determined to qualify."

on the supporters...
"The crowd was great. What is funny is that the crowd was great, the team was great, and the result was bad. "

on his team's potential...
"The team is at a crucial moment, because this team can really explode and be sensational - if we deal well with what we are facing, because there is so much potential in the team. So, keep the belief, and get our frustration out of the way, and one day we'll score four, five or six."

ARSENAL went missing last night.

They blew chance after chance in an amazing Champions League stalemate.

Yet boss Arsene Wenger still claimed it was his team’s best Euro display.

ARSENE WENGER has warned ‘arrogant’ Arsenal to start fighting or face Champions League elimination

COMMENT ON THIS STORY

WHEN UEFA start awarding points for artistic interpretation, Arsenal will win the Champions League.

But until that day arrives, Arsene Wenger’s artistes will continue to be the great under-achievers of European football.

A series of misses — including one of the worst of all time from Tomas Rosicky — means the Gunners now a face a date with destiny in Porto on December 6.

Avoid defeat against the Portuguese champs and they will still sneak through to the next round — but only if they beat Hamburg in a fortnight.

And right now you would not dare bet on that outcome, despite the Germans’ failure to take a single point from their four Group G games so far.

Wenger’s wasters are developing a nasty habit of utterly dominating matches yet still failing to apply the coup de grace.

Just like they did against Everton at the weekend, Arsenal carved out more than enough chances last night to have buried their opponents under an avalanche of goals.

But the Russian champions were allowed to return to Moscow with a priceless draw which leaves them top of the group and Arsenal now clinging to second spot, level on points with Porto.

Dear my beloved Arsenal fans, please do not proceed with pointless discussion like "We SHOULD have won 7-0". You are diverting away from the fact. The fact is that, Arsenal is not good enuff to win 7-0 over CSKA. Please dont be offended,I am just giving you guys a reality check

I thought Arsenal were fantastic last night, and I really thought Vagner Love was going to punish them with that chance, but the game of the night seemed to be playing beautiful football but not finish.

I bet Vagner Love was thinking, "If Rosicky can do it, I can do it too!"

On a happier note.. 3-0! Stevie G's back! :D
