Electric Guitar Bridge Raised from heavy guage!?!

It said 'for drop tuning". maybe because u tune it in standard tuning. try half step drop tuning and see 1st if it is fine. u can tune ur guitar into standard tuning but the strings will pull up your bridge due to its tension and like keith had mention.. it will damage the neck...

Pardon me but i dont quite get what you meant by the whole drop tuning part

Hahaha.. Sry for messing up. What i mean is to tune the guitar to D#G#C#F#A#D#. instead of EADGBe. It will reduce the pull of the strings on the bridge. The bridge is lifted up cos there is too much tension by the string. Even if you reinforce the bridge with more springs, it will solve the bridge part.. but wouldn't it affect the neck or the string itself?
I had this same experience before. Tried to reinforce the bridge but then after doing so i realised that it is very hard to even turn the tuners. So i drop tune the whole thing then the problem was solved. Since then i nvr use such heavy guage.

heavy string gauges are a matter of need, really. if you don't have the need for it, it's best to stick to the default gauge for your instrument.

Thanks Bros!

To all who has stated help and advise on this thread i sincerly thank you with the bottom of my heart, I dropped it a whole step and if in need of standard, i'll fit in a capo, but anyway thanks, i'll just wait till the heavy gauge gives up and snaps, then i'll be going back to 10s or 9s..:p

wouldnt that hinder your playing? haha anw best is you just swap a pair of strings i mean strings cost like 5-6 bux? definitely worth the deal considering nothing beats the feel of new strings : ) and fresh strings always sounds better : D

I've had my old guitar strung with 12s. The tone was a huge difference on that guitar for me.

But it was damn tiring to play. I found it especially difficult to bar chords. So about playing some dimebag... It takes some pretty incredible fingers to do that on 12s man. Also, after a few years it warpped my neck quite a bit.

If you think the tone is a good trade off then go for it man. If I remember right, I read that SRV once said something along the lines of "use higher gauge strings. It will kill you fingers, neck and speaker cones, but it will sound incredible."... That's not an exact quote.

haha its pretty tiring, but sometimes got motivation play long long also not really problem. sometimes terrible day. play 10 minutes, put down, sleep.
