hi i would like some recomendation from bro here on how to acheive sound from ppl like 1) malmsteen and 2) slash..

Need to know so as to target on only a few effects to buy.

i think you can search google for some answers, but a marshall tube amp's drive would get you close to slash. as for pedals, a modded ds1 maybe?

a modded ds1

I KNEW IT. i so knew this pedal will come up.

nope. read my sig.

and btw, to achieve malmsteen's tone, its pretty much 80% in his fingers. the rest via his strat and his two 4X12 Cabs of marshall super lead mark II 50-watt heads. i dunno how much his live set up has changed though

correct.

re

hi ,

is tube amp suitable for hm use ?? i am currently using AVT

understand pod xt is good : but playing ard with it will it take a lot of time ??

Slash's guitar is custom made by gib, can never get his exact same tone.

There are a few modifications made, including the pickups.
There was an article about this quite long ago, bout 3 years.

of course I'm correct nicky.

Pod XT is the numero uno answer for all question pertaining to getting a certain artiste's sound.

Took me so long to realise this. Its like Bogner Uberschall to tube amp recommendations.

tube amps are suitable (well that depends on what your "suitable" means) the valbee's a tube and its way good for home use.

the pod doesnt really take THAT much time lah, its like having a pile of effects, you gotta try try try.

and nicky got it right lah, malmsteen's tone is in the fingers (maybe even the hair)

HAHA that never fails to crack me up.

actually, for its worth, i think getting the Boss GT-8 is a better deal then getting a pod XT. however, gotch pros and cons la, the amp sims from teh XT are more happening then the GT8 imo..

but hor... for all its worth in this thread...

slash's and malmsteen's uses sooo few pedals to get their sound.

so an amp simulator like a PodXT is THE most suitable reply for this thread. 8)

RE

hi so any different between pod xt ant pod xt live ?

thought analoge sounds better than digital...

if tube amp is suitable any different in 2X 12inch and 4 X 12 inch speaker :)

Thanks for the fast response man.

acherly for even more of its worth, my book sayeth malmsteen uses EIGHT pedals in conjunction with his midi switcher and his amp drive to get his tone, including 2 noise suppressors, one boss bf2, oc2, and 2 DOD250 overdrives.

check it out. DOD.

but saying that, he also has a t.c eletronics G-Force multi fx. so yeah. $$

I'm not surprised Malmsteen has modded DOD pedals.

And the DOD250s are not bad pedals - the old ones... and the current ones can be modded to the old specs.

Nothing bad with DOD, its just everything else but the 250, their digital delays and here and there.

devilman, the POD is your most budget-minded solution.

but for what it is more worth than all the 2 cents in the useless 2 cents bin (What no interest rates????)....

the sounds you hear from Malmsteen are "uneffected" most of the time.

octave/flanger don't hear em often.
noise suppressors... nahhh... those ain't effects!!!
dod250? heh heh... endorsements mah!!!

ok lah maybe the dod250 does makes a contribution to his sound.

PodXT, crank up the preamp gain. Marshall mode. Stack. Sweep sweep sweep weeedididididiititltiyltily wank the bar and sweep.

tone is in the fingers. and the scalloped fingerboard.

+1 to either the GT8 or the POD XT. hell if you have the cash, do source out the Line 6 Vetta.

Thanks for the fast response man.

There is almost no difference, except for probably about 6db increase in volume.

The factor that affects volume the most is the wattage output of the amp.

I'm planning to get a 1x12 if I can find it to combo with my 18W tube.

Oh yes and the major difference is the size and weight.

tone is in the fingers.

I get very irritated when I see this... argh.

Got good gear then attribute it to the gear lah. My goodness. People spend the time and effort to make the gear, just like the musician spends his time perfecting his craft...

Its not you ah Nicky... its a rant-to-the-general-public.
