edwards guitars, worth?

sigh, cant seem to find any edwards that fits me.. any idea what the neck profile is like?

similar to an ibanez RG wizard... maybe a lil thicker... but not as thick as a fender strat. why dun u head down to davis or something to check it out urself... dun the the staff will mind...
anyway.... anyone knows whether theres a nice rV shaped edwards with H-H config here in singapore...? haven't been down to town lately... darn busy with work man. thnks

its very far off from a wizard... but definitely slimmer then a gibby... (well t me la) so for me to adapt to a edwards e-lp it was kinda weird at first... but its just bulking up a lil...

Nitro vs Poly
anw... anyone knows whether the lp98LTS is finished with nitro or poly?
i heard poly mutes/dampens/ "kills" the tone.... True?
i also read somewhere that in a poly finish... the tone is dependent on the paint... how true?.... read it from Guitar World March 09
cuz if that is true... does the type of color also affect the tone? cuz diff colors in paint have diff densities. (i deal with colors thats y)

Edwards and grassroots are under ESP right? Both of them are quite similar just that the edwards got SD pickups and grassroots don't have. The price difference is about 300? So if you don't like the SD pickups, you can change them...

The 98LTS from what i know is nitro finished on the maple top of the guitar only, as for the rest of the guitar it is said to be finished in poly.
Eh it is true to some extent, but as much as lots of magazines say that the type of finish poly/nitro will affect the tone of the guitar, i feel that it is not that obvious to many of us honestly.....cause end of the day there r many other factors of the guitar comming together that ultimately shapes the tone (eg. types of materials used for the construction of the guitar, electronics, pickups and etc). So u cant really tell the diff unless ur hearing is very very sensitive if u take the same guitar with all the same specs except the finishing, which some people might have. Cause even the guitars with the same specs may end up sounding slightly different
All in all, if the guitar sounds good and feels great in ur opinion, it is a good guitar!

The 98LTS is a satin nitro coat lacquer on top of a poly/acryllic paint job. Not sure about how dings would be like on a guitar like this, since I never owned my 98LTS long enough to ding it, but I'm thinking the nitro would protect the poly paint from chipping to a certain extent? Not sure.

I don't think that's true as is. I think it all matters on the thickness of the coats. Look at some famous poly guitars. Does an Ibanez JS series have bad tone? Or an EBMM JP6? Those are poly, but the EBMM has a very thin poly coat (even the mystic dream finish), and the Ibanez has a thick poly coat. But most JS guitars I've tried are extremely resonant (even the JS100) and I don't think the poly subdued it in any way.
You can also find some dead guitars from Fender custom shops which are nitro. It's not a defining characteristic, I've realised.
What IS true, is that nitro ages better, as in, doesn't chip off like poly does, and is a little easier to refinish. Poly is a lovelovelovelovelove to remove. Nitro also yellows faster.

Edwards Guitar are Awesome
Recently I bought an Edwards CD-90 with no regrets. The action,tone and feel is awesome. They really put Gibson to same. The prices for Edwards are reasonable. I would rather pay $300 more for an Edwards than to a China-made Epiphone. Actually the best Les pauls are from MIJ Epiphone/Orville .
The tone and the finishing of these two are much better than the Gibson Standard and Classic. Don't believe? try them yourself with the same amp and same environment.

not really correct cause some of the grassroots guitar are made from basswood and some others by mahogany.so $300 difference tells the pickup and construction.
go to the website and compare.

hmmm, great... i think i'm gonna add the 98LTS to my collection... hahaha... i did try out a 92 thou.... kinda liked it... anyone knows whether they "feel" the same?, cuz apparently they dun have 98LTS at davis last Sunday....(haiz... sad)

This is probably a really stupid question but...
Would it be cheaper to buy an Edwards LP at a Japanese music store? I'll probably be going to Tokyo for a week or two in March.
It seems logical to assume that it would be cheaper in Japan since Edwards is made in Japan for the Japanese market and I wouldn't have to pay extra (for the cost of importing the guitar to Singapore). But everything in Japan is ridiculously expensive (movie tickets cost around 25 SGD) so I'm not sure.
I'm thinking about getting an Edwards LP and putting in Bill Lawrence pickups.
