hey guys, im new here and i was jus wonderin will it be ok if i swap mi edge pro 2 on mi jem 555 with an edge pro or gotoh floyd? will any routing be necesarry and will it affect anythin else abt the guitar? thanks

Not necessary to swap. The Edge Pro 2 is a decent trem.

Is your EP2 damaged or something?

not damaged but i jus find it rather stiff compared mi edge pro equiped guitar.

If anything, the Gotoh or OFR or licensed FRs will be stiffer.

They have less mass on the baseplate compared to the Edge Pro series, so yeap, they will be stiff.

Stiffness also has to do with setup... so do read up abt this setup thing. E.g. the more recessed your trem is (lowered trem posts) the stiffer it is.

The Edge Pro is the top of the line trem in Ibanez now anyway, so I would expect it to perform better than the EP2.

You can go crazy and consider rerouting for the grand-daddy of floyd roses, the Ibanez Edge or Lo Pro Edge.

You would notice stickers on later EPs saying licensed under floyd rose.

If you have the $$$, you can acquire a new set of Edge or Lo-Pro Edge at www.ibanezrules.com. You're right about a lot of trouble though. Payment is a hassle.

Do note, its a sum of the parts... if you use .10s lah or you use x number of springs etc etc...

Also, as I mentioned, the EP2 is slightly smaller than the EP, so less mass also translates to stiffer feel... It might be inherent in the design, thats all.

Anyway, ordering from Rich, just find someone else with paypal, you transfer $ to him, his paypal will have read cash, then ask him to transfer back to you. There you go.
