Echo Park or DD3, line6 DL4 or Boss DD20?

i had an echopark for about a month its really frustrating cause its hard to acheive a good and practical setting as it has way to many features.

however i got blown away the first time i tried my friend's dd-6. simple and effective pedal IMO.

then again, depends on the music you play and the kind of delays you wanna get.

just my views 8)

DD20 is very versatile and has a very clean sound. The analog and tape models are interesting but not the real thing. You can store 4 + 1 patches. Which I actually found not enough but that's just me.

DL4 has tons of reliability issues. Some people use for years with no problems, some use for a week and it's dead. So might be a batch problem or just tons of lemons. It also has that line6 vibe and tone where everything sounds so wide and smooth yet somehow muddy and sterile at the same time. You can store 3 patches in it and some additional functions ith an expression pedal. I have heard of some issues with the manual tweaking of patches before so you might want to research on that too.

For the looping functions, both do it fairly well, but not well enough if you are a serious looper. Both will allow you to add layers. The DL4 will gradually fade off your old layers when you add new ones. Which may or may not be useful.

Does anyone here Really Owns An Echoczar? I mean everytime someone enquires about a delay pedal, someone or somebody will always mention this...

wow...lol thats alot of reviews there.

i heard from a friend that the DD20 can send seperate wet and dry singals, like to 2 seperate amps.

Yep. The DD20 has 4 output modes: wet/dry mix and stereo mix in either line level or instrument level output. So you can send a wet and dry signal to 2 amps or send an effected signal to both amps which is necessary if you're using the panning delay to get that ping pong left right delay effect.

Go listen to them.

Like ark said, DL4 and DD20 all have good and bad stuff going. DD20 has the ability to delay in odd signatures ala The Edge with DL40 you have to punch it in manualy which you prolly cant do live. My dl4 died after 3 months and i got a replacement but i have friends whos DL4 are still kicking after a few years of abuse so its a hit and miss thing im guessing. Its all a matter of taste, i liked the sound of the DL4 better than the dd20.

The echopark and the DL 4 sound somewhat different, go take a listen.

And yes the BESTEST ANAROUGE DELAY IS THE ECHOCZAR.

$600USD anyone?

Hmm.

I'm honestly baffled as to why delay pedals whether new or 2nd-hand are so frickin expensive.. I mean apart from being the 2nd most used effect (in the event that overdrive/distortion is number one IMO and you don't believe that wah deserves 2nd place) by guitarists.. there's no reason for those buggers to overprice this little metal/plastic box.

Although you can argue that it does open up loads of different dynamics... I think they should be on the same level (in terms of price) as tremolo or compressor. IMO lah btw.

ok i have sth very odd happening.

why is it that sometimes, i cant get the tempo that i want with my echo park? im looking at my friend's zoom gfx 8, and the tempo is eck-zhech-cally wad i want from

tap-----tap-----tap----tap

to

tap--tap--tap--tap

to

taptaptaptap

to

ttttap

i can get it, but with the echo park, i cant get this versatility! why? i resorted to bending down half the time when i want to get a tempo of choice.

LINE6 delay stuffs

owning a DL4 right now

and honestly im getting sick of the delay

doesnt sound that full and nice

but the loop thingy is sure a cool thing

Hard to find warmth in digital delay IMO. If you really want one that sounds really good, get the Deluxe Memory Man. I won't recommend the Echoczar, because I believe most people wont use all the features.

The delay chips are more expensive. Open up any delay and a boutique OD and look at the guts, see which one is more sophisicated. And we are not talking about NOS bucket chip for the delay here.
