Although you can argue that it does open up loads of different dynamics... I think they should be on the same level (in terms of price) as tremolo or compressor. IMO lah btw.
Ok, to be fair, most boutique are quite unfairly priced, but based on that benchmark, delays are definitely harder to design and implement than say ODs. Its fortunate that ODs are the guitarist's bread and butter if not we all will be damn poor(not that we aren't already 8O ). Engineering perspective, harder to make it right my friend, way harder. Haha ya but still a bit overpriced.
