drum module connection problems

hi there has anyone tried to record to pc with an alesis DM5? which would eb a better route? dm5 to midi soundcard input on pc or dm5 to mixer then to soundcard?

can anyone tell me the pros and cons of each?

ive also tried to use the sounds from my zoom rt-123 triggerd by the module but to no avail... is it doable? ive read both manuals but still cant get it to work(maybe ive got a faulty midi cable)

Recording directly with your soundcard will cut down noise. The more connection in-between and external source and your soundcard, the more potential for noise. I´ll definitely go for this route whenever possible, especially if your soundcard has multiple inputs.
