Drum @change Program - Between DXS (Singapore) & JDS Jakarta (4th Quarter 2008)

I’m please to informed all DXS Members that (Mr. Tama Goh - Our DXS Advicer) will try to arrange a Drummer’s Exchange Program between – Indonesia ( JDS – Jakarta Drumming School – made up of members like DXS here )& Singapore (DXS – Soft’s Drum Xchange Singapore) this coming 4th Quarter of 2008 somewhere same time as the Jakarta Jazz Festival.

Core Purpose Of Having A Drum Xchange Between Indonesia & Singapore

(1) As per usual – on the Xchange Of Ideas and Such In Drumming

(2) An Xchange Of Cultural Ideas In Drumming ( eg How does the poorer & young Drummers in Indonesia drum – where most of them can’t afford to buy a Kit).

(3) Bringing Closer-Ties between Singapore Drummers & Indonesian Drummers.

Extra: -
There will also be a Visit to a Drum Company (Let’s see how Drums is Being Manufactured 1st-hand there).


From Singapore To Jakarta : -
Members of DXS will fly from Singapore to Jakarta (Through maybe a Budget Airline) to keep cost as low as possible for our drummers - - and we shall travel as a Group there altogether….It shouldn’t be too expensive for this Trip.

PS: - The main reason why we are flying over there – is because many of these younger drummers in Indonesia can’t afford to take a flight here (I’m sure we all can somehow understand their financial difficulty).

Hmm, my buddies over at Music Clef (both drum teachers) mentioned about a good experience meeting Taufan, who is one of the founders at JDS.

If nothing else, I'm definitely on... was supposed to be dragged over to JDS some time in June anyway (but last minute cancel)

Same here. The idea sounds awesome. Need to consider the costs, duration and date of the event though. I'm thinking the December holidays period would be the most ideal?

yup, same for me. if money n time permits, will sign up.

Dec hols might not work for everyone tho. cos i think the students here are from a mix of different institutions so the hols might not land on the same dates. and the usual sch (pri & sec) hols actually will see travel costs increasing.

either way, sure cannot please everyone that's interested. just cross your fingers then...haha

The trip will be in 4th quarter of 2008. Still quite some time. I think Eric quite busy also. If I'm not wrong, he's the only one liaising with Tama and organizing this trip. The cost all that will be quite hard to calculate especially in great details. Let's just wait til more details are available! Eric, if you need any help, let me know!
