Drum Beginner

oh issit? haha it's been a long long time since i gas-ed so yeah i guessed that meinl would rank up to one of the big companies...

anyways swee lee don't carry in any more paiste products i spose... check with ranking they are the main paiste carrier.

I suggest you getting the Paiste old Alpha series from Swee Lee Sims Drive. The Alpha series is one level above PST 5. It may be cheaper as it is from the old stock many years ago. It doesn't come in a set but you can call to check on stocks available. Check the website to the contact.

ok.. i called the distributor of paiste cymbals in singapore.. and the set with the hi hat ride and crash is 600 dollars.. worth it?

yeah get a good hi-hat first!!!

my first ever cymbal buy was a hi-hat and it was pretty much a good buy... now the hats costs like threefold the cost price i bought it for!!

Accent means giving emphasis (louder and/or higher in pitch) to a particular note. For example, when you're playing a rock groove, usually people will accent their snare on the 2 and 4.

dude go to » Free Drum Lessons - Learn How To Play Drums Online... great basic tips for beginners for a variety of genres, with lotsa video lessons.

and what sidmontu said earlier cannot be truer.. practice your rudiments. check them out here: 40 Essential Rudiments

i've been drumming for a few years now, but i never realised the importance of rudiments until last yr. after practicing damn hard on the rudiments my kit work has improved loads more than in the last few years. so start out with rudiments man.

PST5 set goes at 600? I thought it was cheaper, around 400? Sry, maybe i mistook for something else..

Swee Lee sells sabians, ranking sells paistes, yamaha sells zildjians... bosphorous, meinl, etc... not too sure where =\ been a while since i went cymbal hunting

Speaking of cymbals, anyone here uses zildjians k light hats? any comments/recommendations? i'm thinking of getting that myself, prefer a lighter jazzier sound with a bright 'chik"...
