Dragon Force

I noticed they like to move around and engage the crowd while playing live.

And I noticed the drummer and keyboards sound spot on and great live.

Can someone post a vid where the 2 guitarists stand still and perform?

If they are still as sloppy then its a justified comment.

But when they are all running around like that, I wouldn't say they are incapable of performing well.

Thats a ridiculously difficult arppegio shape to do. I have a variation of that which makes it much easier to play (only when going down!) but Herman is going the hard way. Its pretty understandable that he screwed up. Point of contention is do they screw up the songs they have recorded?

I was thinking more along the lines of.

Btw, if their solos sound sped up, I think you should take into account herman li uses a Whammy pedal.

Some good guitar solos in Dragonforce, but i find them just too cheesy for me. Some tunes really make me cringe. For power metal soloing i love Children of Bodom's style.

And i don't really like how Dave Mackintosh adds blastbeats to some parts of their songs.. Rumour has it he didn't even know what a blastbeat was until he joined Bal-sagoth

And on the topic of Angela Gossow, my friend was pretty offended when he was compared to her, i think she's pretty substandard and Arch Enemy would be better off with another vocalist.. :P

but that's just my 2 cents..

Point taken and agreed Shredcow.

aye, many guitarists suffer from sloppy playing dude. no offence but even the late great Jimmy Page was a sloppy player live, and the stuff he did, well nvm best left unsaid.

Yeah at least u got to give them credit for the guts they have on stage dude. how many bands do u really see trying to do all those crazy stunts that they do?(jumping off stage and risking ur guitar broken over ur neck is no joke dude) I just think they can do all the stuff exactly like how they can do on the CD, so they are trying to give their fans more. Critiques will always criticize their performance live, but ultimately, if they satisfy their fans, isnt that all that counts? (although maybe not at the expense of sloppy playing, but i feel maybe they are just trying too hard)

Another thing i like about Dragonforce is they are super laid back and they are able to simply loosen up and have fun. Their new vid says it all. Adios.

bam, now would be a good time to introduce more "competent" female death vocalists!!!

Ized, i'm just trying to put things in perspective. I read more about Dragonforce's antics, stage antics, goofiness and getting drunk, than their shred-worthy skills or splendid 10/10 live performances.
I guess if its not your cup of tea, go see the ever worshipped DT live then.

That aside, I am not a fan of Dragonforce. :)

I love DF!
I saw them in Melbourne during their Inhuman Rampage tour. All of them are so nice! Got my guitar and stuff signed by everyone, and Sam gave us 30 picks to split amongst overselves.

goddamnit i was at the same gig...didnt know they stuck around..how did you meet them?

We waited about 4 hours before the gig started, they came one or two at a time, so we bugged them to sign stuff and take pictures and stuff, haha.

slapshock: Im 170cm, and all of them are shorter than me cept for the vocalist xD.

That aside, they are really good live, showmanship and playing wise. Not sloppy like some of you said. Maybe only in the vids? From what Ive seen live, they really blew me away.

ahh i see. i always hate the queues outside the hifi..when i saw the line i turned around and went for a drink first.

i completely agree though, that was a great gig, loved the showmanship and the dual bottle holders on the mic stand.

the difference between them and supposedly better technical power metal bands is that while the songs are all cheesy, DF are actually entertaining and dont take themselves seriously at all, unlike some other bands

heres a pic i got of the gig...

on the topic of angela gossow..

(a) she's not hot
(b) she sounds great on AE albums and live (for the most part) but i've read reports of her using effects, some sort of phaser to give her vocals a more bubbly edge. i didnt really believe it until i heard the covers of symphony of destruction and incarnate solvent abuse - painfully apparent that something is going on in these quick recordings without sneaps mixing.. her constant urge to defend and prove her vocals doesnt help much either.

that said...effects or not, she's still better than many guys...there shouldnt be any shame in using effects anyway its more common than you'd think.

Alamak, the guy's still alive lah...

anybody intrested in forming a dragonforce type band? hehe even thought this is not the forming bands thread

haha ooops sorry man was i got the connotation behind late great wrong.....oops....... paiseh man.....jimmy page is still a great tho. Respect.

Haha sorry Shredcow abit off topic since i know u are talking about death metal female vox, but i was thinking the Nightwish female vocalist is pretty good also? She kind of brings a new light to epic/opera metal. Sarah from symphonic black metal band Cradle of Filth sounds not bad too.....she really sounds like the singer from Evernesance.

haha mozart no shit ah dude? u can play like Herman Li? 8O
