Does made in china really suck?

as long as the guitar sounds good , nothing else matters :o

PRS is awesome to play on tho... MIK? singlecut SE

NO. <---- end of Story

anyone else who says YES or QUOTES what I said? Go EAT SHIT.

Most of the time, I feel that MIC products aren't up to the standard compared to MIA products. Compare a MIC guitar with a MIA guitar, most of the time, the MIA will feel and sound better.

This is a general statement, there are definitely exceptions such as the Artcore series.
And the Vox Heritage AC15/30 models. They are MIC, but sound and look awesome.

surely when the koreans started out they sucked as much as the china-made.give the china-made sometime.but china stuff are pretty sucky in my opinion.thats why they are not pricey.

I guess Mass production does have its ill effects. But then again you do find a few good ones once in a while. I own an af75 for 3 years now and that guitar have seen some serious abuses on stage but man, that guitar can sure hold its own. I must say, particularly for that series of MIC guitars, the quality is quite impeccable.
But then again, thats just one example.
If you ask me honestly, I still do have my reservations when faced with MIC products be it guitars or others.
They have a certain lifespan and I think everyone should be aware of that.

When you talk about China quality ungauged, you need to attention to the different types of industries over there.

For some international guitar companies, they go to China, train the people and engage in the same quality manufacturing process as they would in their previous factories, all at a lower cost. I guess no transnational company is stupid enough to shoot itself in the foot for cheap labour and yet not take advantage by ensuring these low wage workers make their guitars decently.

For the other type of guitar industry, we have companies who just started their R&D into this area because it is relatively new, and seems profitable to them. If you are talking about products from these companies that suck, then it could be attributed to limited resources, funding and R&D.

I note that the people who say that their guitars from China are decent in this thread have guitars from some renowned brands, like Ibanez.

Hi macksonne.... Totally agree with you on that.... Just to clarify, I'm not flaming china made products ;)
But i must say that it seems that only the Ibanez Artcore seems like a consistent export from china. I agree that companies are using the china market for a cheaper source of production. Everyone is doing that now.

I just wanna see the reviews of the fellow softies or more like a "survey" on whether on how good or bad china guitars are.... And besides, if you put Steve Vai on a badly made in china JEM, i think he'll still make it sound like it was god sent but that's besides the point. :-D

ibanez has a new Chinese guitar this 2008 & it's not an artcore...

When I did quality management in my MBA course we were given analogies of how bad Japan was with manufacturing and quality in the 50's. They really worked hard in the 60's to implement quality improvements and management. Quality management like Ishikawa diagrams and TQM were their by products.

But even Japan took around 10 to 15 years to turn around from cheap manufaturing to cheap and good quality manufacturing.

Given some time, China's quality of goods will improve. Just look at the cheap chinese goods you used to get in 1990's and now. Do you see any improvements? Most definately yes!!!

Hi,

Through experience, not only guitars, other products made in China won't last long and i can say sucky, China is well-known for it's rapid mass production but not quality, i had few guitars made in China and Korea, guess what? Korean made is much better obviously even my Squire Made in Indonesia had better quality than China made. Dunno why, but China made products really have low quality, guitar parts would fall apart easily, i guess China people have this mind set "Kiasu to make money but low quality products" in my opinion, it's cheating. I think if they send a nuclear missile across to India, even when it hits anything 70% chances of the missile won't even explode :),

hahaha, well let's not try to be racial or political here aye?

I think I would question my skill as a guitarist first, then the quality of the product. I mean if I suck then there's not much of a point in even having a hand-made custom gibson made in amerika right?

Personally, i don't check where the guitar is made before trying. That's so rude to a guitar. As few have said, if it feels good and sound good, that's pretty much convincing done to buy that piece.

So no, 'Made In China' doesn't suck. It's just an identity.

hmmz.. my mic squire is good for me... no troubles with it... lolx.. so far so "good"....

its really quite a secondary thing... my ibanez acoustic is MIC... AW40... i still prefer it to even MIK... MIJ of higher price acoustic... its the FEEL~~~ lolx... if u cant play... having a 10k guitar wont make any diff...

but how long it will last...??? hmmz... we will get back to this tread in years to come.. hehe
