DIY volume/expression pedal

I was planning on using an old sewing machine pedal and put a switch to the pot so that one will go to a stereo jack for expression and mode 2 on the switch changes it to input-output jack. only problem is the pot in the machine is a 2m pot... what is this going to do ? i mean will it reduce my range? since there is such a high resistance more than half way through the sweep?

try using linear(B) pot ranging from 10k to 100k. For expression pedal, i have seen and used 10k to 25k pot being used. Volume pot somwhere round 100k or more.

If you wanna do a volume/exp mod, imho, might need to play around with the value to find a middle point where both work ok.

The higher resistance you mentioned in the 2 meg pot cud be a Audio taper/log(A) pot. It has more pronounced effect towards the last 30% sweep of the entire range.

yea... thats what i figured.. i was even thinking of using 2 pots... so that i can switch between vol or exp... but that would be quite a pain.. since im actually usuaing a slide pot not the normal ones -.-
