Hi friends,

just thought i would shed some light on how to go about swapping pups on a hollow bodied guitar. I would post it here but the hassle of linking pics just annoys me.

Hope this might help those who are thinking of swapping pups out of their hollow body guitars for less money paid to guitar techs.

Here's the link to my site:

Cheers!

Yeaps good job there. Though I don't understand cause never did any soldering thing myself. Haha.

Just curious. Why the Seth Lovers over the stock?

Thx guys :)

theunknown: the stock pups are great. They excel in a different area. It's more for rockabilly and that gretsch sound. I swapped them out cause i wanted a more PAFish ES335 kinda tone which the seths can nail pretty well :)

maybe someday u could help me install a seth lover into my hollow bodied guitar????
what say u???

tHE CORRECT METHOD IS TO REMOVE THE POTS ETC BUT IT WOULD ALSO MEANS REMOVING THE OUTPUT JACK & SOMETIMES THE BRIDGE GROUNDING WIRE TOO ... SELECTOR TOO ... BLA BLA

TRICK IS TO USE STRING TO TIE IT TO THE POTS FOR CORRECT "REPLACEMENT" .......

EASIER WAY - REMOVE PICK UPS & CUTTHE OLD PICK UP WIRES MID WAY - THEN JOIN NEW PICK UP WIRE TO THE OLD PICK UP PIRES THAT CONNECT TO THE VARIOUS COMPONETS

if no $4 & no g-string, try get this as backup plan -

Yeah bro,
It did cross my mind about using heat shrink and stuff to just join the wires up. confirm less work and It is definitely easier. but i really want to take her apart and do it the correct way by soldering the points. Its also a good learning curve.

i used tubes instead of string would be because with tubes, it is somewhat easier to get the pots straight out of the hole cavity. less tangles, snags and easier to navigate through the guitar body. :D
