Distortion Pedals

of course do throw in some delay and compression if you want that 80s sound..haha..if not..i think a mt-2 or ds-2 would suffice

Well,i think you very likely will never get a green day sound.

Simply because of the amp you have.

a MT-2 wont do too bad.

If you're thinking Metal Zone... Forget it. Uber Metal all the way man. I bought this pedal a few days ago for $160 with a free adaptor from City Music and it's godamn amazing. The only flaw is its battery consumption rate (it can suck up a whole battery in 30 minutes) but that problem was solved thanks to my free adaptor... :D

Wow, that's a lot of suggestions...so if I want a Green Day sound...which one is recommended?

here's an idea of what Billy Joe from Green Day uses

http://guitar.about.com/gi/dynamic/...tar&zu=http://www.greenday.net/equipment.html

i'm not sure how updated that is, but my point is that he doesn't use much effects, just a few good amps. Like jony said, u may not get the green day sound because of ur amp, but you can try getting an amp modeller like the Sansamp GT2 or maybe its cheaper cousin the Behringer GDI-21. That may get you the sound u are looking for, with a bit of tweaking.

I do know that Billie Joe modified his amp...but obviously, that's pretty expensive for me...MrE, those 2 pedals you suggested, are those available at any guitar shops?

I just wanna get something close to that sound...it's impossible to get it the same...

yup, the Behringer is $75 at Luther Music, that's at the basement of Excelsior hotel, in case you're not sure. They used to have the Sansamp GT2 as well, but not sure if they still do.

Behringer GDI-20

So there aren't any real difference between the GDI-21 and the GT2? Since it said it was a copy...anyway, thanks everyone for their replies.

i think its the quality..yup. wondering where can i find a GT-2 and how much does it cost?

Its a sonic difference too. Try them and you'll know.... but for the price, the GDI21 works well as a poor man's GT2.

Yeap. Something like that, but a wider difference. The GT2's drive is better sounding and its more quality.

anyone can advice on how much should we pay for a used (of course) MIJ DS-1 and SD-1?

i've seen prices of about $140 on luther.

for that price, might as well buy a new DS1 for $80 bucks and send it for modding :p will be cheaper still i think

but MrE, you got to note, that the MIJ DS1 will still sound diff from a modded MIT version.

The MIJ can fetch a very high price if cond is good. This is something you can't bargain down easily too... the thing is TONE not cond... and besides, they are like over a decade old, no longer produced.

Anyway, you should check up the MIJ SD1... its difference is more of taste, much more than MIJ DS1s.

can a stock DS1 be modded to MIJ specs?

Why not, Moo?

The MIJ and MIT sound drastically different IMO... I prefer the MIJ a lot more than the MIT.

Thor was saying you can purchase the parts to convert the MIT to MIJ specs but the parts are very hard to find, a huge hassel.
