What is the generally accepted % discount you can ask for without causing the sales guy to get offended/pissed off at the major guitar shops such as Davis, Swee Lee, Standard Value and City Music ?

most of the shops have fixed prices. They dont do discount and that include shops like davis, city music etc. Of course one can still try asking, if thick skinned enough or if the shop people who has the authority to do so, might just be your lucky day.

But yeah, in general, most people serving you, are not the boss. So they prolly wont entertain or even having enough power to give discount

Some shop that supposingly that do discount, is not much a discount. Its just the way thats being presented to the consumer that sound like discount, but in actual fact, thats the actual selling price of the gear, with profit margin added in.

anyway, in short, the discount given, if theres any, its given by shop, not according to our asking.

Just try ur best to bargain man...I always try to do it even when i buy luxury items...Normally for premium items they can give you abit for discount...

Dun be afraid that u going to piss the salesperson. It's part of the job and they also want to seal a deal...I they can't give you the discount means that they can't give...u got nothing to lose
