DESTROYED INSTRUMENTS - your stories?

ppl forget dat when they are angry, they shud play sum metal on their guitar or shred it up, rather den smash their guitars...

visa u made me cry lol!

my dad is also likethat... before exams he's been threatening to smash my guitar. And when he says it he means it. Even threatened me saying if I ever took up/bought a guitar on my own, he would smash it.
And for safety before my exam results came out, I quickly safekept it at my grandma's house and instructed the maid never to let my father enter the apartment haha.

aiyahs... when my guitar had its first ding(which was kinda like a minor ding+large laquer chip), i remember stuffing my head into the pillow for hours lol.

Eugene Smasher....

Diffirent fathers.... diffirent families.... diffirent cultures, diffirent mindsets....

 SIGH...after reading all the threads, the most poor thing are the guitars lah...suffered from the owners' carelessness, domestic violence, petty arguments, rash act of angst, etc

Btw, EugeneSmasher...try to understand lah, I'm sure your dad has good intentions but carried out in a wrong/not-so-appropriate manner. He probably wants you to do well in your studies, etc but didn't realise the importance of self-expression/emotional outlet in playing music as a passion ^__~

...and Kerplunk182 cracks me up...because of one tv-remote incident, now chair spoil, guitar spoil...

chair never spoil la. It was a plastic little tikes chair that was supposed to hit my brother or something. But hit my frigging guitar >:(

van_helen : its a Schecter Omen 6 Extreme

i totally agree that some fathers go overboard... my father is short-tempered. I used to answer him wrong in a maths question and he slapped me like crap.
i believe its the family background lurhs... my mum keep toking bout divource etc...

Hmmm I think you misunderstood... My belief is that people should be allowed to follow their passion. I'm not a victim of it either, as I mentioned earlier that I'm really quite lucky to have parents who are okay with what I do.

But I hope fathers out there who do crush their child's passions come to their senses one day. Because where passion is, there the heart is also.

My dad's really hot tempered too.... I was very very mischievious as a child and I've been caned, belted, slapped, kicked and shouted at. Mum did the same put also pinched me.

I admit that I deserved it coz I was forever getting into trouble, bullying my sisters, destroying my parent's property and the one time I got kicked was when I nearly burnt the house down.

Then....one day I realised...HEY...I could run faster than they could...and from then on they could never catch me :-)

It was diffirent time, a diffirent age and the norm for kids to getccanned or whacked byytheir parents. As for me, all that disciplline had made me a more responsible person.

Today my two daughters, at very very most get scolded by my wife.... never been smacked or anything before etc....

a new generation....

it was like 3years+ ago when i started out playing guitar for not long...my first ever guitar bought by my uncle a 62 tele, smashed by my dad because i did very badly for my exam =(.
i was freaking sad...and i didnt manage to touch on guitar for 2 years untill i managed to save up all over again and gas all over again also!
